I Am Jazz And Friends
School & Community Readings
The National “I Am Jazz” School and Community Readings are an annual event hosted by HRC’s Welcoming Schools in recognition of the first “I Am Jazz” reading in Mount Horeb, Wisconsin on February 28th . Click here for more background (y en espanol ).

Randall's art teacher, Mx. Hemmerich, will be doing the reading at Alicia Ashman library, just one of the many readings across Madison that evening.
When to stay home from school
MMSD Health Services has revised its guidelines so a fever is now considered a temp of 100.5° or higher (100 is no longer the “magic number”). This is consistent with clinics and hospitals around the country. As always, if we check your child at school, we will look at more than just their temperature when we decide if they can stay in school or not.

Here's a link to the revised handout "Deciding if your child should stay home or go to school" in English , Spanish , and  Hmong . Please let me know if you have any questions.

Hope your children stay healthy!

Upcoming 5-2-1-0 Challenge

Please consider helping! It’s not too time consuming and it helps me a LOT.
More info about the 5-2-1-0 Challenge will be in upcoming newsletters.

  • Excel-savvy: Input points earned by students & staff into Excel spreadsheet (Google doc) after each week of Challenge. **The more volunteers we have for this, the better.**
  • Fruit Prep: Prepare and deliver fruit kabob snacks to 1–2 winning classes at Franklin & Randall (could be reimbursed by Wellness Council)
  • One-time Helper: Put up a bulletin board (everything’s ready to go) at Franklin & Randall
  • Good at Counting:Count handouts needed for each class at Franklin and/or Randall before the Challenge.

If you’re interested in helping, please let me know what you’d like to do ( clovell@madison.k12.wi.us ) and I’ll give you more information.
