Please remember to check your student for lice and nits
|
It is especially important to check after breaks such as after winter or spring break
. These break times are when children are more likely to have had sleepovers or visit relatives. Students then return to school and are identified with lice. The school is not usually the cause of the infestation (90% of cases of lice are acquired from the community), but rather the location of identification.
|
|
The Franklin health office would love gently used donations of:
- elastic waistband pants in sizes 6–8
- winter boots sizes 13–2
- small gloves and mittens
Thank you!

Celebrate Smiles is coming to Randall, Feb. 6–12
|
|
The Celebrate Smiles dental program will be at Randall from February 6 to February 12 (the program was already at Franklin in December). This program provides dental check-ups as well as preventive sealants, fluoride varnish and other needed treatment to kids in grades 4K–8 who might otherwise go without dental care.
Dental staff from Access Community Health Centers will screen children right at school using portable equipment. All participants get a screening as well as sealants and fluoride varnish. Children who need it can also receive a dental cleaning, fillings, pulpotomy, stainless steel crowns and extractions. Although there is no cost for these services, the program bills BadgerCare (Wisconsin’s Medicaid program) and private dental insurance for any treatment if families have coverage. Kids with private dental insurance will only be eligible for sealants and fluoride varnish.
To sign up,
fill out the consent form sent home with your child before winter break. A
printable consent form
may also be found online. Please complete both sides of the form, and sign and return it to your child’s teacher as soon as possible. If you need another form, please contact the School Health Office at 608-204-3305. For questions about the program, call 608-852-2781.
