The Franklin-Randall PTO needs your help for Badger football game parking!
Please volunteer to help manage traffic and direct fans into their parking spaces at the Randall Elementary School parking lot and playground for the UW Badger home football games. There are 6 volunteers required per game and the time commitment is for approximately 3 hours, starting 3 1/2 hours prior to kickoff. Many of the kickoff times have yet to be announced, I will update the sign-up sheet as game times become available.

The proceeds raised from your volunteer work will directly benefit your children at Franklin and Randall as well as additional elementary schools in MMSD.

Please review the available slots using the sign-up genius link below and click on the button to sign up. I will reach out directly to volunteers with more detailed information.

Announcing! Grade Coordinators -
Community Building Program
Last year we launched the Classroom Coordinator Program to help families stay connected during the pandemic. After feedback from last year, we are keeping the program with a few tweaks. Most notably, instead of Classroom Coordinators, we are looking for Grade Coordinators. Grade Coordinators will help families get and stay connected by organizing casual social events (outdoors or virtual) for students, families, or caregivers, facilitating small teacher appreciation projects, and being open to being a liaison between teachers, school staff, and the PTO as desired.

We are looking for two coordinators for each level to work together as well as a coordinator for each school who will support each other. The program is new and evolving. It can be as involved as you'd like, or not. Grade Coordinators and School Coordinators will have the support and assistance of the PTO.

Please contact Coral and Ray at communityengagementfrpto@gmail.com to sign up or for more information.

MMSD Covid Response Website
Please see our MMSD Covid response website for a lot of good information.

A few key points:
  • You should get a Covid screener e-mail every morning from MMSD. If your child is healthy and coming to school, you do NOT need to fill it out. If they have one of the symptoms listed in the screener, please fill the e-mail screener out, call Franklin attendance line at 608-204-2294 or use the web attendance to report your child absent, and a nurse will follow up with you. You may need to contact your provider for a PCR test if warranted.
  • The symptoms you want to keep your child home for are fever, cough, congestion, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, diarrhea, or if your child was a close contact with a Covid positive person. If they develop these symptoms at school we will need to call you to bring the child home and possibly get a Covid PCR test.
  • Again this year MMSD will be requiring a baseline negative Covid test for allergy symptoms, even if the child has known seasonal allergies.

At this time if your child needs to get a PCR test for Covid, we are recommending speaking to your primary and/or using one of Dane County Public Health community testing sites. We are told by Dane County Public Health that there will be a limited number of MMSD Covid kiosks open from at Thoreau, Lowell, West, Blackhawk/Gompers, Shenck/Whitehorse, Toki/Orchard, Hawthorne, Memorial, and LaFollette. They should be open 20 minutes before to 20 minutes after the schools start times, but that can change. You can access any of these kiosks.  HERE is a link to help you access this option.

Thank you for your patience and partnership in helping keep Franklin open and safe!
