I was asked a question the other day, one I get asked often. “Why do you even pay attention to what is going on in Topeka? It’s not like we can change anything, or that they listen to us anyway.”

I disagree with that statement.

50 years of service to cooperative members
On May 31 FreeState recognized a rare milestone. Rick Smoots, celebrated a 50-year career.

Rick, pictured at left with wife Debby, was honored by employees and recognized for his years of service to the members of the cooperative. His dedication, sacrifice, and hard work will be missed. Rick retired on May 31. 

Rick is the last of the "true American worker" and his story is one for the history books.

Congratulations to Alyssa Streit (right) from Rossville! She is the daughter of Alan and Natasha Streit, and a fourth grader at Silver Lake Elementary School. Alyssa's artwork will be the featured art on our FreeState cooperative correspondence card.

Statement of Non-Discrimination
