Greetings, and welcome to the February 2013 newsletter!
In recent months we have busied ourselves going through our email and research archives. We have in the past found it hard to keep up to date with the constant flow of evidence coming into our offices. So, we decided it was time for a shake up, and are creating digests from the last five years. We will be sending out more information about this in a couple of weeks.
Gavin has just returned from book launches in Belgrade and Sofia. He was interviewed by several national newspapers and television companies. We will be posting some links for you in the Blog section of the website shortly.
News from the Midwestern Epigraphic Society:
They are busily preparing for their May 31st - June 2nd weekend symposium. Amongst others, Mark & Laurie Nickless are to speak about their research on the Piasa, which should prove very interesting. You can find out more information on this symposium here: http://midwesternepigraphic.org/symp13.html
John Blashford-Snell's lecture at the RGS:
To mark the 200th anniversary of the birth of Dr. David Livingstone, John Blashford-Snell will be speaking in the Ondaatje Theatre at the Royal Geographical Society, London, on Thursday 28th March. Funds raised will be used to support the work of the Scientific Exploration Society and to refurbish the Livingstone Memorial in Zambia.
John is a good friend of ours, and, as you may remember, collaborated with us in an expedition to find the "first Panama Canal". More details here:
