"Expedio Oriente" - the Schurmann family's next great adventure!
Lastly, we are hugely excited about the Schurmann family's new project - the Orient Expedition. Their new sailboat "Kat", designed and built specifically for the expedition, was launched recently and is now ready to set sail on a 2 year adventure. The launch party will take place in Itajai, Brazil, on the weekend of 21st / 22nd September, whence the Schurmanns will set off on their circumnavigation of the world in the wake of Zheng He's mighty armada. Please sign up to their excellent website for further details, not least information concerning the ports that they will be visiting on the way. They would love to hear from you if you are located near their route. Indeed, if you live close to their course or can point them to sites of specific historical interest in that local area, then they would love to hear from you to discuss further! There are many of you who have emailed us with regard to sites exhibiting evidence of early Chinese visitation from all around the world. Now is your time to speak up. The Schurmanns have all the necessary equipment to explore and film these sites, above or below water, so if you know of an area that needs researching further please let them and us know. We'd like to take this opportunity to wish them a hugely exciting and successful voyage!
