Blog Goldring Travel's Blog & Facebook Page

I know many of you do not spend hours surfing the web or socializing on Facebook, but just as email is now as common as the mail delivered to your door, things such as my blog (Goldring Travel's This Is My Yacht) provide you with travelogues, news, information and commentary two or three times a week on average. And with almost 900 articles that are fully searchable (either by keywords or your own words) on all sorts of travel and cruise topics.

If you want to know when new articles are available you can, for the tech-savvy, get an RSS feed. But for those looking for an easier way, even if you don't have an account, go to

 What's New And Interesting?

Seabourn had two big news items:  Seabourn is going to be building a fourth Odyssey-class 450 or so guest ship and has sold the three triplets (Seabourn Pride, Spirit & Legend, to Windstar and will be departing the fleet (Pride - May 2014/Spirit-Legend - May coincide with the delivery of the new ship). You can read more here and the two following articles.

Many 2014 European itineraries have been released by the cruise lines. There are some pretty interesting and exciting itineraries.  One that Seabourn has announced visits Greenland for four days...along with Iceland and the Faroe Islands.  There is no better way to visit this remote, but beautiful, area in luxury.

Also consider Seabourn's Antarctic cruises.  With five (5) different landings and a truly amazing enrichment series together with great pricing from Goldring Travel (and a complimentary digital SLR camera!) if you ever wanted to visit this area in luxury, these November 2013-January 2014 cruises really should be considered.

One of the cornerstone's of Goldring Travel's commitment to its clients is to actually experience destinations; not just read information about them off a computer screen.  It makes a difference...a big difference.

I just returned from Iceland.  It was my second time there (the first being on the Seabourn Sojourn's Maiden Voyage) and I am more impressed with Iceland than the first time. If you have the time I would urge you to consider spending a few days in Iceland on your way over to Northern Europe.  I have written about my trip in my blog.  If nothing else, take a look at the photographs.  Start with the first article (I always write a series when traveling) Iceland:  The Layover...Goldring Travel Style.

It was then off to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida for the North American Conference of the International Forum of Travel and Tourism Advocates.  I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express used as a pre-cruise hotel.  (I was not smarter at the conference, but I did learn some things fi you are cruising out of there!).  My topic was whether Regent Seven Seas marketing of "Free Tours", "Free Airfare", etc. violated consumer laws or created potential liability for travel agents. (It was agreed that the answer is "Yes" to both.) Read my article: Selling a Regent Seven Seas Cruise: Do Travel Agents Have Any Liability to Their Clients?

I am doing a lot of research this year, both land and sea.  Later this month I will be attending Cruise Shipping Miami, "Where the Cruise Industry Does Business". This annual event is for the industry, not travel agents.  I will have personal meetings with the heads of Seabourn, Silversea, SeaDream and Windstar among others.  There will be sessons discussion all the real issues facing the cruise industry and new products and trends you will see in the future.  My work in the superyacht industry also gives me access to many networking events.  This is truly where my "homework" starts.

In March I will be sailing with my family on the Celebrity Silhouette in two Concierge Class staterooms.  I will be revisiting how effectively one can have a near luxury experience on a Celebrity cruise.  Then in April I will be heading to the Hyatt Regency Tamaya Resort & Spa in Santa Ana Pueblo, New Mexico for an Executive Retreat with my consortium, Ensemble Travel Group.
May brings me to the Cosmopolitan Hotel in Las Vegas for the American Superyacht Forum where my I will be sponsoring round table discussions of yacht building and refit issues.  You can read about it here:  ASF Las Vegas.

Continuing my research, also in May I will be sailing on the Silversea Silver Shadow for a seven day Alaska cruise.  I will be sure to provide a very detailed analysis of my cruise to see how Silversea is operating as a luxury cruise under its new management.

The autumn brings a new wave of activity with an October seven night Panama Canal and Costa Rica sailing on the Silversea Silver Expedition followed by the November 13, 2013 2013 Goldring Travel Food & Wine Cruise on the Seabourn Quest.  (See the Highlight on this cruise.)

Silver Explorer 2013 Silversea Silver Explorer

Panama Canal & Jungle Cruise

Join me for a unique seven day cruise on the Silversea Silver Explorer transiting the Panama Canal and then visiting the jungles and beach of Panama and Costa Rica.  There are only a few suites left on this sailing, but it is a wonderful opportunity to experience a luxury expedition ship and areas rarely visited by a luxury cruise ship.

Do not delay if you are interested in more information or booking this cruise.  There is very limited availability.
Thank You!
