Clif Bar Expands Facility in Twin Falls
Earlier this month, Lt. Governor Brad Little and I had the privilege of joining the Twin Falls community and Clif Bar at the ribbon cutting for their new baking facility.  Production is already under way at this state-of-the-art facility and they are adding even more good paying jobs for Idahoans.  I am proud that this world-class business decided to continue their expansion in the Magic Valley and I look forward to the opportunities they will bring to the Gem State.  You can read more about Clif Bar's expansion by clicking here.

National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) Statewide Conference Call

Earlier this month, Lt. Governor Brad Little and I joined the Idaho members of the National Federation of Independent Business ( NFIB) for a statewide conference call to address issues facing small businesses. We fielded questions ranging from telecommunications and infrastructure to public lands and hiring hurdles. I am impressed with the number of participants and their grasp of the issues. It was a very productive meeting and I look forward to continuing our open line of communication with the backbone of Idaho's economy - our small businesses.

September Is College Savings Month in Idaho

September is College Savings Month in Idaho! Thank you to IDeal - Idaho's college savings program - for joining me during the proclamation ceremony in my office.

We had a very special guest at the ceremony, Simon Salisbury from Moscow and his mother Kim. After sharing his story with IDeal through an essay contest, Simon earned a $1,500 award that will go toward his college education. Because Simon took the day off of school to visit Boise, I made sure to write his teacher a note excusing him from class and letting her know how proud we are of Simon for his hard work and dedication to his future. First Lady's Focus: SEE, TELL, NOW! CAMPAIGN

It has been my pleasure to work alongside the Idaho Division of Building Safety to promote a new school safety campaign called SEE, TELL, NOW! The 2016 Legislature approved funding to increase school safety and as a former educator I am pleased to see a practical and feasible plan be developed to address the issues.

It's no secret that Idahoans are a trusting group of people! But when the IDBS conducted its annual inspection of all Idaho schools, the results were alarming. On average, it took 10 minutes before visitors were approached and questioned as to why they were at the school. The goal of the SEE, TELL, NOW! campaign is to raise student's situational awareness without making them paranoid. The use of a llama as the campaign mascot has been a great strategy for interacting with younger students and elaborating the campaign's slogan: "When you SEE something, TELL someone NOW!"

The campaign kicked off on August 23rd in Boise at Andrus Elementary with a press conference. From there it has taken me east to Shelley, ID where I visited Shelley High School and up north to Coeur d'Alene, ID where I participated in an interactive assembly with 3-5th graders at Borah Elementary.

So far the efforts have been accepted at the school districts with a wave of support. A radio and television public service announcement will be aired across the state. A continuous flow of press conferences and public relations events to increase exposure for the SEE, TELL, NOW! campaign will continue and a coloring book for all first grade students is being created that will promote school safety and Idaho history.

Lastly, 1,900 SEE , TELL, NOW! posters will be distributed to all Idaho schools as a reminder of the campaign for the students.

I look forward to continuing the promotion of this program throughout the state and I have enjoyed being back in the schools! Thank you, Idaho Division of Building Safety, for continuing to be proactive and working for the safety of kids, staff and communities at every school in Idaho!

SEE, TELL, NOW! PSA
