Drive Business During this Challenging Time
Greater Lafayette Commerce wants to help our members and small businesses in Greater Lafayette make it through the COVID-19 pandemic. We want to make sure you are aware we can host on our website any special promotions or accommodations that your business is making to encourage customers. Similar to the Greater Lafayette Restaurant Guide we are hosting, we think this could be an added benefit to help drive business during this challenging time.

Here’s how to add your promotion to the Member Directory:
The primary rep should log in to the Member Information Center (MIC) through login portals on our website landing page or directly here .

Once in the MIC, select Hot Deal from Shortcuts menu list on the left-hand side (only the primary rep on the account can see this).
Select “Add Hot Deal” and then enter the following details:

  • Title – Name of the deal
  • Tagline - Short one liner about the deal
  • Category – select the category that your business has been assigned to in our Business Directory (usually only one selection available)
  • Description – enter a detailed description of the deal
  • Meta Description – 1-2 sentence summary, 320 character limit
  • Short Description – 512 character limit
  • Offer Start Date and End Date – dates of when deal begins and expires
  • Search Results Logo – optional to add an image or logo (must be .gif, .jpg or .png)
  • Contact – this information defaults to the data on your member profile
  • Active Dates – dates to publish the deal (can be different from the offer dates above since you can publish the deal before it is active)

Select “Save as Draft”. Once you have reviewed, select “Submit for Approval”. Greater Lafayette Commerce will review and approve Hot Deals submitted. Once approved, the Hot Deal will be displayed in the Business Directory.

You can view these promotions or "Hot Deals" here.

Once we have some hot deals loaded, we will promote the link to the public and media.

Thank you for everything you all are doing to support Greater Lafayette!

COVID-19: Unemployment Information

Indiana Department of Workforce Development to Host Statewide Unemployment Insurance Webinars for Hoosiers
Impacted by COVID-19

IDWD - The Indiana Department of Workforce Development (DWD) will host two live webinars for Hoosiers impacted by the COVID-19 crisis. The 30-minute live programs will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 24, and at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, March 25. The program will cover unemployment eligibility requirements, the formula and amounts determined by Indiana State Statute for benefit amounts, frequently asked questions—and how to apply for benefits. “We are taking these measures to help the public better understand the process, and most importantly, how to apply for benefits,” DWD Commissioner Fred Payne said. “During this time of uncertainty, we want to provide as much information to the public as we possibly can, and the live webinars are part of those efforts.” Important notice: The number of attendees on live will be limited to the first 500 who are online for each event. Up to 5,000 can register for each of the two. The program will be recorded and made available to all who register. Once recorded, the program will then be posted on the special landing page established by DWD:   www.in.gov/dwd/19.htm

Surviving the Pandemic: Thoughts for Restaurants
This is uncharted waters for everyone. I’m 51 years old and have never experienced anything like this in my life. Grocery stores are emptying as people are hoarding food and paper goods to get them through the
unforeseeable future. Restaurants and bars are closed except for delivery or carryout. Many of us have been in the restaurant business for decades, and the playbooks have just flown out the windows. Our entire business models have been turned upside down. How do we survive?

I spent the week reading articles by the National Restaurant Association, other online-resources, as well as talking with my business partners and other restaurant owners—trying to come up with something to say. The truth is we need answers, and we need them now. Below, I’ve assembled some of the information I’ve gleaned from the many sources, as well as a few of my own ideas. I hope they help.
