Wine of the Month: Pinot Gris

Pinot Gris is our wine of the month! With tastes of citrus and ripe tropical fruit, subtle acidity and a creamy finish, this is a delightful and refreshing addition to a variety of light fare. We suggest pairing this wine with crab cakes or stir fried chicken.

Q: What is your position?
A: I am the Assistant Tasting Room Manager at Hazlitt 1852 Vineyards.

Q: How long have you worked at the winery?
A: It will be 5 years in April.

Q. What is your favorite Hazlitt wine?
A. Just one?! I'm a big fan of Rieslings, but I really fell in love with the un-oaked 2010 Chardonnay too.

Q. What do you like to pair this wine with?
 A. My second love (wine is first, of course) is CHEESE! So I really look for wines that pair well with cheeses.

Q: What do you do when you're not working at the winery?
A. Until recently I was a "weekend warrior" so holding down two jobs left little time for other activities. But horses have always been a love and I like to garden and spend time doing anything outdoors.

Q: What is your favorite event we hold at the winery?
A: Grapehounds! I just love the dogs and bringing awareness to the joys of adopting a retired race dog.

Q: If you could live anywhere other than the Finger Lakes, where would it be?
A: Australia for sure. The climate and beauty of the country is amazing. This is on my bucket list for vacation.
New Surprises for Pouch Lovers

Now, your other favorite wines, Bramble Berry and Cabin Fever, will soon be available in the 3.0 Liter pouch! Make sure to keep an eye out at our retail shops in both Hector, NY and Naples, NY as well as at your local liquor store.
