Heavens Harvest Farm Newsletter
Greetings to you on this blustery Monday!
It looks beautiful out there but it sure is cold. The ladies packing the shares today had to turn on the heat and we won't be playing outside!
Joshua is working on getting into the fields this week. We have plastic to pull up and then he will begin harrowing and plowing. Exciting!

Check out the article & recipes of the week and stay warm!

Soil Matters: Below the Surface of Authentic Organic
Article courtesy Cornucopia Institute

"The Cornucopia Institute is adamant that the USDA National Organic Program (NOP) enforce the required management of the living soil.
Authentic organic farmers are systems thinkers who work to support the interdependence of diverse and abundant soil organisms. They steward helpful fungi and bacteria that engage in complex subterranean relationships to nourish the plants, reach water, and sequester carbon. These relationships grow strong, resilient plants that are more resistant to disease and insect damage.
The harvested crops contain the myriad nutrients and minerals available in healthy soil."

Minneolas
"Nicknamed “The Honeybell” because of its bell shape, the Minneola tangelo is a cross between a tangerine and a grapefruit. Its large size and slightly elongated “neck” make it easy to recognize. The most popular of the tangelos, seedless Minneolas are brimming with sweetly tart juice."
