From the President

Dr. Joe Sugg

We made it through (another) damp Springfest. Big thanks to all of our sponsors and vendors. And the Arkansas Scholars banquet brought a big crowd to Red Apple. Thank you to those sponsors as well. Congratulations to our award recipients and to all of our area graduates. We wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors, and we hope those plans ultimately include a return to your hometown.
Summertime is making its way here, and that means plenty to do with preparing for Fireworks and Cardboard Boat Races. Thank you to all of our staff, volunteers, membership, and sponsors for making these events possible for our community. And a reminder - the fireworks will take place on Friday, July 5th. See you there!

Volunteer

Spirit!

How is success spelled?

Answer: Volunteers!!

Kudos goes to Carie Golden and Erin Golden-Vance for their commitment to coordinate the Springfest Beauty Pageant; their second year! With nine age groups competing in six categories, this  mother and daughter team did a fantastic job of dealing with the weather, recruiting judges, plus all the details associated with the event.

Thank You Carie and Erin!

The Law Offices of Tilley & Prince was the destination of the May Cupcake Brigade.  We wish to commend Bryan for his many years of dedication to the Chamber and Rebecca for her continued service to our community.  Their offices are located at 407 West Searcy and you may reach them by phone at
501-362-5809.

Each month, a Chamber member will be treated to cupcakes provided by:

Springfest

Mother Nature tried to dampen spirits at Springfest this year, but her efforts couldn't keep the crowds away.  Many came out to enjoy the crafts, Master Gardeners demonstrations, bar-b-que cookoff, theatre productions, music and many other opportunities for family fun! Check out our Facebook page or our website for Springfest photos!

A Big "Thank You" to our
Corporate Sponsors!

Arkansas Scholars Banquet

The Chamber honored 92 Cleburne County graduating seniors who were deemed Arkansas Scholars with a banquet for them and their parents at the Red Apple Inn.  The Keynote Speaker for the evening was ASU System President, Dr. Chuck Welch.  The Cleburne County Judge's Office and the Cleburne County Office of Economic Development each gave a $500 Scholarship which was awarded through a drawing.  The winners were Keaton Sutterfield of West Side and Avi Patel of Heber Springs.

Quarterly Luncheon

The Chamber held its May Quarterly Luncheon at the Heber Springs Community Center.  Arkansas Speaker of the House, Davy Carter of Cabot was the guest speaker.  He recapped the recent legislative session and gave his assessment of Arkansas' future.  Heber Springs Senior, Andrew Powell was recognized for his perfect ACT score of 36, for being a National Merit Finalist, and for receiving an impressive ROTC Scholarship to Yale University.

 Congratulations Andrew!
