Katy Monaghan’s Birthday Celebration Helps Pets Affected by Hurricane in Western NC

Heidi's Hope for Homeless Animals' Pet Food Bank extends a heartfelt thank you to Katy Monaghan, who celebrated her birthday by selflessly requesting pet food and treats for animals in need.

A beloved Wilmington resident and founder of Katy’s restaurant, Katy is known for inspiring strong community support. On her special day, cars lined MacCumber Terrace, filling her truck with donations for pets affected by the October floods. The gathering at the MacCumber Terrace Clubhouse was a heartwarming celebration of Katy and the community's generosity, coming together to support furry friends in need in Western North Carolina!

Make This Christmas Special: Adopt, Don’t Shop –

Sophie’s Story of Hope

The Christmas season is upon us and many consider buying a puppy, but have we thought about the true cost? Sophie, is a former breeding dog who spent seven years locked in a cage, forced to produce litter after litter until she could no longer breed. Thankfully, Sophie was rescued, but many others are abandoned, euthanized, or left to suffer.

Puppy mills are profit-driven operations where dogs are bred in horrific conditions, confined to small, filthy cages with no exercise or medical care. Once they can no longer breed, they are discarded like machines.

This year will be Sophie's first Christmas to celebrate what she has always dreamed of--a loving home with her forever family!

You can make a difference. Sophie and countless other puppy mill dogs urge you to adopt, not shop. By adopting, you help end the cycle of cruelty and give a rescued dog or cat the loving home they deserve.

Please make pet adoption your only option and give a rescue dog or cat the life they deserve and long for!

Sophie and her mom are overjoyed that Sophie found her forever home, and they both wish every dog and cat could have the same loving future!

As we look forward to 2025, we are excited to build on our successes, expand our programs, and make an even greater impact on the lives of animals in our community.

Please consider making a year-end donation to support our mission and help us continue this vital work. Together, we can ensure that every pet has a loving home, a full belly, and a bright future.

Thank you for your ongoing support in 2024. Together, we’re making a difference for animals in need.
