Heidi's Hope Lends a Paw: Donating Over 16,000 lbs. of Pet Food and Supplies to Help
Furry Friends in Western NC!
| Heidi’s Hope for Homeless Animals, Inc. extends heartfelt gratitude for the amazing support from our community. We recently received a tractor trailer carrying 26 pallets of Chewy pet food and supplies, thanks to Greater Good Charities! A big thank you to Chief Williams and his team at the Wilmington, NC Police Department for also loading an additional 9 pallets (approximately 11,000 lbs.) for delivery to western NC. Earlier this week, they delivered over 5,000 lbs of pet food and supplies and 88 dog beds to support hurricane-affected pets through our Pet Food Bank. That’s nearly 16,000 lbs of pet food donated and delivered in just one week! | Watch video above for highlights of Heidi's Hope For Homeless Animals' Pet Food Bank donations that have donated over 16,000 lbs. of pet food and 88 dog beds and many more supplies to western North Carolina | | |
|
We also want to thank Jimmy and his team at Southern Moving and CarMax Cares, along with Dianne Logan, Leslie Smith, and AA Storage for their support. A special shoutout to Greater Good Charities for making all of this possible. We appreciate Eastern Carolina Veterinary Referral and Animal Emergency and Trauma for coordinating their donation drive, and we’re proud to donate about 500 boxes of Rachael Ray Nutrish dog and cat food to help those in need in western NC.
Thank you to the Brunswick County Sheriff's Office for transporting over 300 boxes of Rachael Ray Nutrish pet food to Asheville, as well as MegaCorp for their assistance in transporting our pet food to West Jefferson. Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected by this devastating hurricane. Heidi’s Hope for Homeless Animals is incredibly grateful to our sponsors, donors, and everyone who makes our work possible! Thank you for your support!

Sophie's Update
A New Leash on Life!
| |
This month, Sophie and her mom celebrate two months since her adoption,, she is absolutely loving her new life!
October is the month most dog owners and dogs look forward to--the return of dogs allowed on the beach! After spending seven years caged as a breeding dog, Sophie's finally experiencing the joy of the beach! She always starts each day with a joyful “Sophie Roll,” her happy dance that shows just how much she enjoys life!
It is also football season and Sophie can’t get enough of her squeaky football. Every time she goes in her back yard, she eagerly searches for her football, ready to play for hours!
| Sophie is becoming a working dog who has been busy helping collect pet food for our Pet Food Bank. We’ve had a blast at fall events like Bark in the Park, Pawz in the Park and our first-ever BARKtoberfest at Lighthouse Beer and Wine. She and her Mom have been busy with many donations of pet food and supplies for hurricane-impacted pets in western NC! | | |
|
Sophie's past has been tough—she’s was confined to a cage for over seven years, breeding countless litters of puppies and she had two surgeries for cancerous tumors. Sophie was frequently overlooked for adoption due to her health concerns, but at the same time, Trish was looking to adopt a dog who, like Sophie, would otherwise be considered unadoptable.
A recent vet visit found another small tumor that will require surgery this week. We’re thankful for the blessings she received at the Blessing of the Animals and appreciate your prayers for Sophie's upcoming surgery. We are all hopeful for a long, happy, and healthy life for Sophie!

Thanks to Our Supporters! | We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to our donors! We experienced a technical issue with our old website that prevented us from identifying who made donations, so we sincerely apologize if your contribution went unacknowledged. Our new website is now functioning smoothly, and we are truly grateful for the support of all our donors and supporters! Your generosity makes a significant difference! | | |

Disaster Relief: Restoring Hope
One Bowl at a Time!
| |
Heidi’s Hope for Homeless Animals has been busy since the hurricane struck western NC! In the first week alone, we sent out over 500 boxes of Rachael Ray Nutrish pet food with help from East Carolina Veterinary Hospital and Brunswick County Sheriff’s Department, along with truckloads delivered to MegaCorp and Wrightsville Beach Fire Department. We’re honored that New Hanover County Emergency Management contacted us to support those affected by the disaster and we have been helping ever since being contacted after the disaster struck.

|
The following week, Wilmington Police Department, under Chief Donny Williams, assisted in delivering a tractor trailer filled with pet food from Chewy and Greater Goods Charities, totaling over 16,000 lbs. of food and supplies and 88 dog beds!
Our Pet Food Bank started with humble beginnings as a one-time event during the pandemic and has grown into a crucial community effort, including our Pet Meals on Wheels program for housebound seniors and their pets.
Stay tuned for more exciting news next month, and a heartfelt thank you to our supporters, sponsors, donors, and the amazing Wilmington community for helping us continue to fill pets' bowls with food and hope!
