Giving Paws: Spreading Holiday Hope to Pets
We are overflowing with gratitude for the amazing community support of Heidi’s Hope For Homeless Animals’ Pet Food Bank!
Our hearts are full thanks to the incredible support for Heidi’s Hope For Homeless Animals’ Pet Food Bank. PawPrints Magazine honored the memory of co-founder Diane Pour with a generous 195-pound donation of pet food.
DogTrain rallied their community through a month-long drive, collecting more than 750 pounds of food, while Katy Monaghan and MacCumber Terrace added over 320 pounds more. Along with countless individual donors, your compassion is helping us feed pets, support families, and spread hope throughout our community.

Santa Paws Came Early
Heidi’s Hope for Homeless Animals, Inc. spread some extra holiday cheer by donating ten bags of dog food (275 pounds), four cozy new dog beds, a box of Milkbones, Greenies nutritional supplements, and 18 fun toys to help 15 at-risk dogs rescued from a high-risk shelter in Surry County through Long Road Home Rescue. These gifts are helping make their Christmas brighter, warmer, and filled with comfort as they wait for loving forever homes, giving them full bellies, soft places to rest, and moments of joy during a time that can be uncertain. With every wagging tail and playful moment, we’re reminded how compassion and community support can help turn second chances into happily-ever-afters.

Warm Whiskers, Full Hearts
Thanks to a generous donation from Greater Goods Charities, Heidi’s Hope For Homeless Animals is spreading warmth and comfort throughout our community by sharing insulated, waterproof cat condos with feral cats and their caregivers. These cozy shelters are already keeping the Carolina Beach “Boardwalk Cats” warm and dry, while also bringing comfort to unhoused individuals and their beloved pets—like Scotch, a once-starving rescue found wondering alone at the Scotchmen--now safe, snug, and deeply loved. We’re also placing these condos with feral cats after spay and neuter surgeries, giving them a protected space to rest and recover. With every cat condo donated, we’re offering more than shelter—we’re sharing compassion, warmth, and hope, one whiskered friend at a time.

Pet Meals on Wheels, Love on Paws
Heidi’s Hope For Homeless Animals’ Pet Meals On Wheels program recently donated more than 42 bags of pet food to help nourish the beloved pets of housebound senior citizens through our partnership with New Hanover County Senior Services.
At Heidi’s Hope, we believe no senior should ever have to choose between feeding themselves and feeding their cherished companion. That belief inspired us in 2018 to launch the Southeast’s first Pet Meals On Wheels program, providing monthly pet food deliveries to seniors living on fixed incomes.
For many seniors, their pets are family—their closest friends and greatest comfort. Through our Pet Meals On Wheels, bowls and bellies are filled, worries are eased, and lives are brightened, bringing nourishment, companionship, and hope to both pets and the people who love them.

Held at PetSmart Mayfaire and our new location, Good Hops Brewing, families, kids, and furry friends captured PAWSITIVELY fun holiday photos—all in support of Heidi’s Hope for Homeless Animals’ Pet Food Bank. | | | Turns out, the Grinch’s heart grows biggest when it’s helping pets in need! | | | |

Thanks to the generosity and support of our amazing community, bowls were filled and spirits lifted across our region. Our Pet Meals on Wheels deliveries ensured housebound seniors never had to choose between feeding themselves and their beloved companions. We also provided food to our pet food partners, and 15 at-risk dogs rescued from a high-risk Surry County shelter received nourishing meals, cozy beds, and toys—a fresh start full of hope.
The season was wrapped in extra warmth with insulated cat condos shared with feral cats, the Carolina Beach “Boardwalk Cats,” and unhoused individuals and their pets—because everyone deserves a safe, warm place to curl up.
As the year comes to a close, our hearts overflow with gratitude for every donor, volunteer, and supporter who made these moments possible. Your kindness fills bowls, warms whiskers, and delivers hope—one paw at a time. From all of us at Heidi’s Hope, Merry Christmas and Happy Paw-i-Days!

Give Hope This Christmas: A Gift for Homeless Pets
As the year winds down, we at Heidi’s Hope For Homeless Animals take a moment to celebrate the lives touched—and to remember those still waiting for hope. Our mission is simple but powerful: to feed hungry pets, reunite lost companions with their families, keep pets safe in their homes, provide care for animals in need, and help shelter pets find loving forever homes.
Every act of generosity makes a real difference. Your support fills bowls, warms hearts, and brings comfort to pets and the families who love them. For many, these animals are their closest companions, and your gift ensures they have food, shelter, and love through Christmas and beyond.
This Christmas, please consider a year-end donation to Heidi’s Hope. Your gift is more than a donation—it’s hope, comfort, and a second chance for homeless pets and animals in need. Together, we are working towards our mutual goal: a time when every homeless dog and cat has a good home with a loving family.
