An Afternoon of Fun & Furry

Fundraising for Western NC Pets!

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for PawBall this past weekend! It was an unforgettable afternoon filled with fun, games, and incredible generosity. A special shoutout to Wrightsville Beach Brewery for hosting us, and to all the pet parents who brought their furry friends, all decked out in their favorite football jerseys. Thanks to your support, we were able to gather much-needed food for dogs and cats, providing assistance to families and pets impacted by Hurricane Helene in Western NC. Together, we're truly making a difference!

Sophie's New Leash On Life

We want to take a moment to express our deep gratitude to everyone who kept Sophie in their thoughts and prayers during her surgery to remove a tumor from her mammary gland. We’re happy to report that the surgery was a success, and Sophie is healing beautifully!

As Sophie celebrates her three-month mark in her forever home, it’s a moment to reflect on how far she’s come. For many rescue dogs, this is when they truly start to feel settled and their personalities begin to shine. Sophie is no exception! Over the past few months, she’s blossomed into a confident, happy, and affectionate girl—and we couldn’t be more thrilled to see her spirit unfold. Sophie's Happy Dances show her joy and happiness!

Sophie’s story is one of resilience and second chances. The first seven years of her life were marked by sadness and isolation. She was kept as a breeder dog, spending her days confined in a cage, breeding litter after litter of puppies. When she was finally retired, a rescuer stepped in to give her a new chance at life. Sophie went to the vet for the first time, where she was diagnosed with tumors on her mammary gland. Despite her health issues, Sophie was overlooked by many potential adopters. But when Trish learned about her story, her heart immediately went out to Sophie. She knew she had to give this sweet girl the life she deserved—and that’s exactly what she’s doing.

Now, Sophie is dancing with joy—literally! Her signature Happy Dance is her way of showing just how happy and grateful she feels. Sophie and her mom, Trish, are celebrating not only their first three months together but also the promise of a future full of love and new experiences. It’s a reminder of how powerful second chances can be. Sophie’s journey is far from over. She and Trish are not only creating a beautiful life together, but they’re also working to bring hope to other rescue dogs and cats in need. Whether it’s helping find homes for homeless animals or providing food and support for those struggling to stay with their families, Sophie and Trish are making a difference in the lives of many.

Home for the Holidays isn’t just about finding new homes—it’s about giving animals the opportunity to experience love, care, and happiness. Sophie’s story is proof that with love, patience, and hope, a second chance can truly change a life.

Sophie’s journey has only just begun, and together with Trish, she’s not only finding happiness in her new home, but also helping other animals along the way. Thank you all for your continued love and support. Your prayers and encouragement are making a difference in Sophie’s life and in the lives of so many other pets in need.

Here’s to more healing, more hope, and more Happy Dances to come!

This month, we’re overflowing with gratitude for our incredible community and the amazing partners who help make a difference! A huge thank you to Greater Goods Charities, Purina, and Chewy for sending us TWO tractor trailers full of pet food to support our furry friends in hurricane-impacted western North Carolina. Thanks to this generous support, Heidi’s Hope for Homeless Animals’ Pet Food Bank was able to deliver over 40,000 pounds of pet food and supplies to those in need!

Fall has been a whirlwind of fun with some fantastic events, including our BARK-toberfest at Lighthouse Beer and

Wine, PAW-Ball at Wrightsville Beach Brewery, and BARKSgiving at Carolina Ale House! It’s been a joy celebrating with all of you! And the excitement isn’t over—mark your calendars for Friday, December 6th, starting at 5:00 p.m. for the pawsitively best Christmas photos in town! The return of Photos with The Grinch is happening at Wrightsville Beach Park, and we can’t wait to see you and your pets there!

Our Pet Food Bank is always busy, not just during disaster relief efforts, but year-round, as we work with a network of local government and charitable organizations to provide monthly pet food supplies to hungry pets in our community and beyond. Your continued support makes all of this possible, and as we approach the Thanksgiving season, we want to send out a huge thank you to our amazing supporters, volunteers, sponsors, and everyone who helps make our mission a reality.

As we reflect on all we have to be thankful for this Thanksgiving season, we want to give a heartfelt thank you to every one of our supporters, volunteers, sponsors, and community partners. Your generosity makes everything possible, and we couldn’t do it without you. Thank you for making a difference in the lives of so many pets and people!
