THE DECLINE OF WESTERN CIVILIZATION (PARTS I, II, III)

Penelope Spheeris' trilogy of ground breaking musical and cultural documentaries began with The Decline of Western Civilization; Spheeris' eyewitness account of the vital Los Angeles punk scene circa 1979-1980.

This was followed by The Decline of Western Civilization Part II: The Metal Years; an extraordinary 1988 documentary about the hair metal movement which was followed by a third installment about the hardscrabble lives of teenage gutter punks.

All three films are exceptional as both musical and cultural documentaries. Historic Films, on behalf of SHOUT! FACTORY is proud to offer excerpts from this iconic documentary series to director-approved projects. All of the footage from the series is in the process of being logged and will be made viewable on Historic Films website shortly.

Founded by Mark Balsam and Julian Schlossberg, Westchester Films has revived and restored over 500 classic motion pictures. The Westchester Films library includes the Academy Award winner
" Stage Coach"(1939, John Ford), "A Night in Casablanca" (Marx Brothers), " 52nd Street", "Quadrophenia", Orson Welles "Othello", cult classic  "Hells Angels on Wheels", Alfred Hitchcock's "Foreign Correspondent", along with hundreds of other titles including films by John Cassavetes such as "Faces" and " Woman Under the Influence".

All titles are currently being transferred in HD and clips will be available for viewing later this Spring.
