Ground Lease

Own in Northwest Crossing

Here is an opportunity for you to purchase your own brand new home in the beautiful Northwest Crossing neighborhood.  The home is 1,312 square feet with 3 bedrooms, two bathrooms and a double car garage.  The master bathroom has double sinks and a walk in closet.  The home is energy efficient and comes with energy star appliances.  The sales price for this home is $190,000.

The home buyer purchases the home and leases the land, therefore making the home affordable by removing the cost of the land.  The estimated principal and interest payment on a 30 year loan at 4.25% is $935.

The total homeownership expenses including the estimated property taxes, homeowners insurance and ground lease fee is around $1,270.  You must be able to qualify for bank financing, have household income under 80% of the area median income and have sufficient income so that the payment is not more than 30% of your gross monthly income.

If you would like more information, please contact Kelly Fisher at             541-323-7411 or click below for a flyer and application.

Credit Scores

Understanding your FICO score

So, what is a FICO score anyway and why does it matter? FICO stands for the Fair Isaac Corporation. This company assigns a number (FICO score) to the information reported on your credit reports. The number is used by lenders to assess the risk of lending you money. The score is a predictor the lender uses to determine how likely you are to repay the money you borrow and the interest rate they will charge you for that money. There are other scoring models and credit scores that lenders use as well, however the FICO score is the most commonly used in the United States.

Watch this video to learn more about FICO scores and how they affect you.

Health and Fitness

Get help to quit smoking

The American Cancer Society's Freshstart program is designed to help you stop smoking or chewing by providing you with information and strategies that will direct your efforts to quit. The program consists of four small group sessions that take place over a four-week period. Understand why and how you use tobacco, learn to manage the stress and obstacles common to the quitting process, and develop strategies for 'staying quit' forever.

Why a group? Because many tobacco users benefit from and enjoy being in a group setting. Some tobacco users are stimulated by the group discussions and many of the best quitting ideas come from others. The support and camaraderie between the facilitator and other participants is often the push needed to become tobacco free. Enrolling in the group is also a reason to avoid putting off quitting.Registration is required and space is limited.

This great 4 week program is offered through St. Charles and is available in Bend, Redmond, Madras and Prineville. Classes start in September.

Do it for your health.  Do it for your family.  Do it for your budget.  Do it for yourself!

Changes to the Housing Choice Voucher waitlist in 2016

The Housing Choice Voucher team would like to inform everyone of the upcoming change to our waitlist process.  As of 2016 Housing Works will no longer hold a Non-Elderly Disabled waitlist.  Instead we will now have only one waitlist.
