ICNC Call-to-Action: Industrial Modernization
ICNC is gathering neighborhood businesses to discuss the future of the Kinzie Industrial Corridor in preparation for the Industrial Modernization Plan, a City-organized planning process reviewing land use and transportation. In these meetings, ICNC is aiming to gather information on:
  • Effects of Fulton Market development on business
  • Sustainable community planning
  • Transit access
  • Infrastructure issues
  • Security concerns

Annual Boat Cruise -

ICNC will be hosting its Annual Boat Cruise aboard the Anita Dee II with a special performance by the Jamiah Rogers Band in celebration of our 50th anniversary! Connect with other ICNC companies as the boat cruises around Lake Michigan while enjoying beverages and light refreshments.

Lunch & Learn: Immigration Law & Your Business
Join us for a lunch and learn about immigration law and the impact it can have on your business.  Immigration attorneys Karen Gillespie from Meltzer Hellrung LLC and Mario Godoy from Godoy Law Office will present an o verview of government regulations that impact immigration, I-9 compliance, ICE audits, green cards, and visas. The presentation will be followed by a Q & A session.

Export Compliance Workshop
Through the onsite or online seminar, the IL SBDC at the College of Lake County in partnership with ICNC, is hosting a 201 Export Workshop. Attendees will learn how to make sure their companies are in full compliance with the U.S. import/export regulations, save on duties and taxes, ensure proper pricing, and much more.

Welcome New ICNC Incubator Companies!
Cake Chicago - Cake Chicago is a bakery that offers a variety of sweets such as custom wedding cakes, truffles, cookies, their signature jar'd cakes, and more. They will be producing a gluten-free line of sweets here at ICNC.

Elevate Packaging - Elevate Packaging creates sustainable packaging and labels. All boxes, bags, and labels are eco-friendly, compostable, and recycle-friendly. Their products include coffee bags, stand-up pouches, zipper bags, labels, and more.

Victory Dance Foods - Victory Dance Foods makes healthy, delicious, gluten-free breakfast and snack foods such as granola, granuesli, and muesli. Each batch is handmade with carefully sourced gluten-free ingredients. Their products are sold in local cafes and shops and they also plan to launch an online store soon.

Coyne College Casino Night Fundraiser - On April 20th, The Coyne American Institute Educational Foundation (CAIEF) will be hosting a casino night fundraiser to help support students. CAIEF began in 2012 to assist students by raising money for scholarships. From 2013 to 2016, CAIEF has given out $10,000 in scholarships to students from Coyne College and will be giving out $5,000 more this month. Learn more and buy tickets here

ICNC Newsletter and Website -  ICNC members who have an announcement or a special promotion can have it included in our monthly newsletter. Members with media attention can have the article link included on ICNC's website. Send all relevant information and links to Michelle Collett at [email protected]  by the last day of the month.
Development Opportunities
Inner City Capital Connections: ICCC is a national program that helps small businesses in economically-distressed areas grow. The 40-hour curriculum combines executive education, coaching/mentorship, and access to potential capital sources. Most companies headquartered in the ICNC incubator and surrounding areas will qualify from a location standpoint. Other candidate guidelines include annual revenues of $500,000+ and being in business over 2 years. For more information, contact Emily Lo at [email protected]. The deadline is June 2nd.  
 
Small Business Administration (SBA) Webinars: The U.S. Small Business Administration hosts webinars nearly every day on a wide variety of topics related to small business. See the calendar here.

IRS Webinars: The IRS periodically holds local and national webinars with helpful advice regarding tax season and owning a small business. Take a look at the schedule here.

Business Workshops:  The Department of Business Affairs & Consumer Protection (BACP) offers workshops free every Wednesday and Friday. Workshops vary each month and are conducted by city officials, experts, and partner business organizations. View the business workshop calendar  here .
Receive Money Back For Hiring
Receive money back for hiring full-time Chicago residents! ICNC has received funds through TIFWorks 50/50, an employee training reimbursement program issued by the City of Chicago. Applications are currently being accepted. Applicants must be located within the Kinzie Industrial TIF District boundaries. All training must be pre-approved by the City. Monthly Alderman's Meeting
Every month ICNC hosts a breakfast with 27th Ward Alderman Walter Burnett, Jr. These meetings are an opportunity for area companies to discuss issues they have with crime, infrastructure, zoning, and other topics.
