Welcome to Rev. Story Lucile Ducey, who has accepted the role of “Co-Director” of ISD Oneonta. Story is taking the place of Rev. Amanda Hoover, who has served as Co-Director, and Director for ISD since April of 2020. Although Amanda is stepping down from that position, to spend more time building her business, "Net of Love”, and to be with her children, thankfully, she is still serving as a minister and on the faculty of ISD Oneonta. Amanda, a certified school counselor & administrator, Reiki Master & life coach, has been part of a powerful team who we gratefully acknowledge for helping to lead us through all the changes that the pandemic required of us. Amanda designed the COVID Safety plan for ISD to be in compliance with NYS & CDC regulations in order for our business to re-open after the shutdown, in August of 2020, and made innumerable contributions to the direction & expansion of ISD Oneonta through the Adult Education Committee planning of new classes, overseeing the research on grants we qualify for, and helping with publicity and social media. Our new Co-Director, Rev. Story, will serve alongside of her co-director, Rev. Diana Friedell, who continues as Pastor of ISD Oneonta. Story came to us in 2018, with a broad background in metaphysical teaching and leadership, both on the college & community level; interfaith ministry and many years of experience teaching & helping to lead the Metaphysical Center of New Jersey. She will easily step into this role, as she has been a valuable Senior advisor for ISD Oneonta, has served on the board, and is a popular teacher since she arrived, as well as co-chair of Adult Education.
Rev. Renee Ranke shifts away from her Many Roles. . .
Renee Ranke, who has served as Minister, Office Administrator, Board member, and newsletter editor since April of 2020, and as Co-Director of ISD, since September of 2021, stepped down from those roles as of April 1st. We have been so blessed by her amazing computer know-how, her inspirational writings, and devotion to ISD. Remarkable Renee has been an integral and influential part of our leadership team, a fabulous teacher, and we credit her with taking many of us through zoom training, & google Drive training, so that ISD Oneonta could continue to grow, despite the Pandemic and resulting shutdowns. As with both Amanda and Story, her counseling to our friends and family at ISD, as well as support of the infrastructure and leadership team, have been innumerable. Luckily for us, Renee will continue to serve as Minister, Faculty and Director of the Intuitive Practitioner Program, as well as co-chair of Adult Education. But this SHIFT will give her a little more time to develop her business, and establish her presence in her hometown area.

Our Astrological Forecast

This newsletter is distributed on the Thursdays prior to the ISD Sunday Services (1st and 3rd Sundays of the month). Connie had prepared an astrological forecast, which included last weeks information, but unfortunately the newsletter was not in sync with the Forecast's release. Never miss an up to date forecast, which can be found on Facebook and Instagram.
ASTROLOGY FORECAST (May 26 -31)
SOLAR GEMINI AND GEMINI SEASON:
Have you been releasing for quite some time now? As space opens up in your energy field for new creations have you been allowing, receiving, and welcoming in the new energies? More of our DNA is coming online. Gemini is really helpful in getting our minds to go along with new paradigms. This mental, air sign will help quiet our ego, which fears for its existence and fights for its survival.
This year the Sun's transit in Gemini can give everyone an assist in versatility, adaptation, and acceptance. The inevitable changes we are all dealing with are just that much easier to implement with Gemini season beginning. The "personal planets", Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, and Mars are going to be taking turns in Gemini between now and July, with Mars starting a long stay in August.
These are the dates:
SUN - May 22-June 21
MOON - May 29-31
MERCURY - (Because of a retrograde this transit is in two parts.) Apr 29- May22 and Jun 13 - July 5
VENUS - Jun 22 - July 17
MARS - (due to a retrograde this is an exceptionally long 7 month transit.) Aug 20, 2022 - Mar 25, 2023
Now, I am going to suggest an expansion of what has heretofore been associated with Gemini. The constellation is called, "The Twins." It is highly visible in our New York sky in the northern hemisphere from early November until mid-June. The twin stars are bright Castor and Pollux, both visible to the naked eye.
Castor is actually 6 stars, comprised of three binary systems. It looks white with a blue tinge. Pollux is golden colored. They have varied characteristics and mythology in the world's cultures. The one commonality is that they are two of something - having strong connections to each other.
I think, in this time, Gemini and the twins will be helpful in another way. Joining your physical, Earth-duality self to your higher self. That is not the joining we normally think of. Much of the time we are trying to find commonality with something outside of us. Wisdom tells us to look WITHIN for love, harmony and cooperation. THEN we will find it outside ourselves.
Furthermore, consider STAR LIGHT AS A HELLO FROM THE PAST:
Let us expand our thoughts to time and distance. I ask you to exercise your imagination now, something I mentioned last week as an underappreciated aspect of Gemini.
The star Pollux is 34 light years away. THE STARLIGHT WE SEE NOW WAS BORN/GENERATED IN 1988.
We were in our first year after the Harmonic Convergence of 1987. (For those of you who are unfamiliar with this, it was the time when the entire human population on Earth were asked while in the sleep state if we wanted to continue life on Earth, or end the experiment.)
Would we experience the expected Armageddon, or go on past the 2012 Galactic alignment into the Aquarian Age? We voted to continue, knowing we were attempting something never before accomplished. (A planet ascending while the population was still present on the surface.) REMEMBER, in all that broad expanse of the Laniakea Supercluster I showed you last week, no other planetary population has achieved what we have! You are more courageous and adventurous than you know.
NOW, the light we see this year from Pollux can serve as an enduring beacon from the time we all decided to LIVE! This time we are deciding HOW WE WANT TO LIVE.
The light we see now from Castor is 50 years old. It was born/generated in 1972. We were ending the very unpopular Vietnam war, were in the Watergate scandal, and only months away from Roe v Wade decision in January, 1973. Now we have cycled back around for another look at similar situations.
Can we find inspiration from these Gemini twin stars for a solution to our current situation that finds our country and world in turmoil? Will this light help us choose love and cooperation? Maybe it can! We can ask…
The stars are visible for a few more weeks in the northwestern sky, low on the horizon, right after sunset. They will return again in early November.

VENUS transits into Taurus May 28th until June 21st:
Wonderful placement for Venus. She rules Taurus. Beauty, grace, and artistic vision is present here. Emotionally rich. Stable in a lovely way. Earth resources are enhanced. Shadow side to watch for is laziness, gluttony, and stubbornness.
NEW MOON in Gemini on May 30th. This will close out as active a month as we have had in awhile. The Solar and Total Lunar Eclipses will likely have brought some things to your attention. What are you ready to declare complete? What do you wish to develop further? This Lunar placement will help join your head and heart together in an emotionally intelligent way.
Once more, remember that this is a marathon, not a sprint. Sit in quiet repose. Breathe in love and light. Try to bring your imagination out to help you as often as possible! May you find your Godspeed.
I met a wonderful new friend recently who had some interesting observations concerning the value of Astrology in an online discussion forum. For her, there is none. She does not believe in allowing unseen forces to tell her when to do something, or what someone will be like according to the Star positions on their birthdate. She feels we have free will at all times. If I were to sum up what I think she was trying to get across, it was that, for her, Astrology feels restrictive.
This is a credible, thoughtful position to have. I couldn't agree more with the basic idea that, "We create our own reality." It was the unwavering premise of our shared beloved teacher/guide SETH, channeled by Jane Roberts from 1963-1984. I think my new friend is also thinking about our position regarding the collective consciousness and the nature of mass events. We have within all of our systems and cultures a shared general agreement about meaning and significance. We also have the free will and individualism to say, "NO, this is not valid for me!"
If you find yourself reading these columns, then I can safely assume that you are already feeling there is value for you, or you are curious. It cannot be stated often enough that you must apply your own discernment at all times. Take what seems valid and helpful, ignore what does not.
I think of Astrology as a template. It is available as a framework for my activities. It feels empowering for me, rather than restrictive. I encourage you to think of Astrology and the Cosmos, on which its information is drawn, as your assistant, friend, guide, etc. There is no MUST here. There is HELP if you want it.
THIS NEXT IS CRITICAL; If you look up at a constellation or Star and feel something different than is described, go with your own intuition! If you are reading an interpretation of an Astrological theme and you sense its meaning is different for you, go with that. YOU MAY HAVE ANCIENT EXPERIENCE TO DRAW ON THAT IS FAR SUPERIOR TO WHAT IS BROADLY ACCEPTED AS ACCURATE!
All the Astrological signs, houses, planets, aspects, transits, etc. contain opposites in the form of positive and shadow characteristics. We are in a duality plane, trying to bring balance into our lives. Even those who we think of as Ascended Masters found themselves presented with difficulties. Astrology systems provide a great deal of assistance with both shadow and light when they present themselves. Wisdom is available to enhance love/light, and also, to transmute shadow.
We live in a Space/Time reality that is somewhat cyclical - in the nature of an upward spiral. No two events are identical, but they do show up in ways that seem familiar. Planetary returns, aspects, sign changes, transits, all offer you guidance when you find another chance to experience something again. Your Soul loves you enough to repeat some life events with similar energies and ask you, "Do you want to experience this differently this time? Is there a better way? Will you proceed with a different perspective or core belief this time? If the experience was positive, are there even more riches to be gained from it?"
I believe that each Planet and Sign has a sentient, vibrant personality associated with it. The full range of Archetypal energies are represented. The cyclical patterns provide for timing to be considered. Not that you can't explore and create anything at any time, but that there may be some times when it will all go more smoothly. There may also be some times when addressing a challenge AT THAT POINT IN TIME will be more difficult, and ultimately take more effort than it was worth. Additionally, the energies are available to everyone at all times. It is the cosmic solar winds and magnetic forces in our Solar System and we all feel them. Bear in mind, EXTRA emphasis is present when the energies match your natal star and planetary positions. Those dates are your Natal Returns.
ASTROLOGY FORECAST (June 1-7)
The MERCURY retrograde in Taurus ends on Jun 3rd. While direct in Taurus the mental processes tend to concentrate on resources, both material and monetary. This also encourages the mind to get back to basics. What is truly important.
INFLUENCES IN CANCER:
In these early years of the Aquarian Age the sign of Cancer is going to undergo much scrutiny and likely, quite a bit of shifting. The trend of this age is to find balance between the masculine and feminine. Up to this point, Water sign Cancer qualities, ruled by the Moon, have been assigned largely to the feminine; Nurturing, Devotion, Family, Sensitivity.
Asteroid CERES is in Cancer. This is associated with motherhood, familial protection. This is a nurturing placement for home and family. The mythology is of Ceres, the mother, rescuing her daughter, Persephone, from the underworld. This asteroid is the traditional image of motherhood and femininity.
Now enter the wildcard in astrological BLACK MOON LILITH - This is a complex figure in myth and astrology. It can be measured in four different ways. All of them deal with the unacknowledged or historically vilified side of the feminine. Human cultures have assigned the role of the wild, unpredictable, evil - yet deeply powerful, feminine to various figures. The feminine that does not conform to strict roles gets swept under the rug. In our current time we begin to redefine the feminine. Such troubling and unfair treatment no longer serves. This is where a new, more nuanced look at LILITH comes into play.
Black Moon Lilith is the calculated mean location of the Moon's orbit, the Apogee, that is farthest from the Earth, hence, "in the dark." How it is calculated is not as important as that it be acknowledged. This transit is in Cancer now from Apr 14, 2022 - Jan 8, 2023.
LILITH is that part of the feminine in all of us that will not be ignored any longer, the part that says, "I AM! Don't make me evil and don't expect me to submit. I have a place in the psyche." She has DEEP POWER. DO NOT FEAR HER. She is the feminine who has many talents to contribute to the world and wants to be allowed to explore them without being labeled evil and selfish. She knows that it is ultimately not good for the world for her to submit forever.
Black Moon Lilith will be with us in Cancer for another 6 months. We will explore her further this year, because it is time!

What is the Institute for Spiritual Development?
It's both a metaphysical church and an educational center originally founded 40 yrs ago in Sparta, NJ. With the belief that all paths lead us Home, ISD is dedicated to helping each spirit walk their path with courage and joy.
We stand for each individual’s right to seek their own personal Truth, as they respect the same right for others. We honor the sacred texts of all traditions of the Light.
The Oneonta NY chapter of ISD was Lovingly created by Rev. Diana Friedell & her sister Rev. Sue Landon. We are now led by a powerful leadership team, and executive board.
ISD is a spiritual community that focuses on healing and intuitive connection, and the joy of finding the spirit connection within rather than being told how it should or could be experienced.
We welcome those who want to belong to a spiritual group of like-minded people, in which you can explore and find your own path in a community of love and support.
There are classes, services, events, and a sense of community and fellowship. Energy healing and intuitive messages are delivered as a regular part of the worship service. Classes offer many tools which will help you on your life path, and the community we are creating together is one of openness and acceptance, and the ability to adapt with change and growth.
