We’ll surpass two exciting milestones in June. One is $8 million, and the other is $100,000. Read below for the details.

We’ve made 103 grants to 83 amazing Community Partners, and we’re about to add more. Have you ever wondered where our grants are invested? You can find every grant we’ve made, the amount and category, and even our grant outcomes. It’s all beautifully organized right here.

Our website shares philanthropy education resources with the community. When we shifted to a virtual format in 2020, we saw an opportunity to archive past events and link to a video, recap blog, or website. Check it out!

Our blog has all the things. You’ll find news and grant updates. We’ve got human interest stories. Member gatherings are recapped here – with photos. We talk about Impact Austin events. We profile great organizations and smart community leaders. We serve up philanthropy education. If you want to go down an internet rabbit hole, this is the place.

We’re gathering in person again and we have 8 Million Reasons to Celebrate! We’ll surpass two exciting milestones as we announce our newest grants.

Our pre-program reception will offer the happiest networking and photo ops we’ve had in two years. Get ready to greet old and new friends and celebrate!

Key Dates for Spring Recruitment

Membership to Impact Austin is open all year, but spring is a busy time for recruitment. Your email inbox and social media have been filled with appeals. Why? What are the important deadlines?

April 30 – The deadline for invite-a-friend recruitment has been extended! See below. 

May 15 – Join Impact Austin by 5/15 to: vote on upcoming Community and Education Grants; attend the new member social on 5/22, and attend Annual Meeting on June 6 to meet our new Community Partners. Members who successfully recruit a friend to join and begin payments by 5/15 will be entered into a drawing to win a free one-year membership. This can be used by the member herself or gifted to another friend or colleague.  See our membership link. 

June 30 – New members joining by 6/30 will add to the collective funding for Fall 2022 Grants (Equity and Health & Well-Being) and Spring 2023 Grants (Community and Education).

Zones Social Activities

The Zones team launched 2022 with some creative mixers: volunteering at the Central Texas Food Bank; a virtual valentine’s celebration; touring the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center; and learning some basics of boxing!

On May 12 at 6:00 PM, three in-person happy hours will be offered around Greater Austin:

Las Palomas on Bee Cave Rd., Vamonos on Airport Blvd., and Manuel’s on Jolleyville Road.

Strategic Advisory Council Update

Impact Austin’s Strategic Advisory Council (SAC) includes 26 representatives from nonprofit and community organizations within Greater Austin and two Impact Austin Co-chairs. The SAC meets quarterly. Check out our blog update of SAC activities as well as links to background information about the Council. 

Vote May 17-25 for Spring Grants

Finalists for our Community and Education Grants will be announced next week. Finalist packets will be distributed to members May 17. Packets will include all links and information necessary for member voting. In June we will award a total of $188,600 in Community and Education grants. The finalist in each focus area receiving the majority votes will be awarded a restricted grant of $75,500 and the other finalist will be awarded an unrestricted grant of $18,800. These awards will take us over $8 million in total grantmaking!

Girls Giving Grants Announces 2022 Award

On April 25, the 61 members of Girls Giving Grants (g3) named Texas Family Initiative: Nicole’s House to receive their $9,200 award.

With this grant, total g3 giving surpassed the $100,000 milestone, giving a total of $107,200 since 2007. Check out our news release and see their past grantees here. 

Center for Survivors of Torture

To honor g3’s $100,000 milestone this year, we’re focusing on their 2021 grant to Center for Survivors of Torture. The g3 award supported the Center’s Healing Children Program, which provides access to web-based telehealth and virtual counseling services for child victims of torture. We Give Summit

Philanthropy Together, which follows Impact Austin and participated in one of our Discovery Days events, will offer the We Give Summit in May.

This multi-day, virtual learning experience will be a celebration of collective giving. We urge you to participate and learn more about giving circle philanthropy.
