NEWS
August 2020
A Message from Christina
Near and far, you can engage with Impact Austin. We have a variety of virtual events coming up this Fall, kicking off on September 3. Check out our website’s new Events page for all the ways we will gather together – online!

"Talking to Kids About Race and Racism" is our first event, produced by 2020 Community Partner Austin Child Guidance Center and sponsored by Impact Austin's Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee. This Summer Impact Austin committed to creating safe spaces for productive conversation on racism and following the lead of our Community Partners. The collaboration on this event with the Austin Child Guidance Center is a next step in our journey.

Community Partners from across Impact Austin's 17 years of grantmaking are working harder than ever right now. We've invited three dynamic women leaders from Lifeworks, MEASURE, and CASA Travis County to our September 10 webinar. They will speak on critical issues our region is facing. Join us and register a friend or colleague to learn how to get involved with the community at-large and Impact Austin in particular.

I give special thanks to members who have already renewed for FY21 and to those who are contributing to Impact Austin beyond their membership dues. Even in this difficult year, so many of you offer generous support through Impact Austin’s Philanthropy Circle and event sponsorships.

I'm looking forward to seeing you again, but virtually for now.

Christina
Philanthropy Education

The Art of Impactful Giving
This webinar took place on August 11 and was offered free to to members as a benefit of Impact Austin membership. See our blog for a recap of the event and an introduction to the types of giving that members can employ to support the causes and organizations meaningful to them.
Talking to Kids about Race and Racism
In partnership with Austin Child Guidance Center, we will embark on a discussion about how to tackle conversations about race and racism with the next generation. Join us on September 3 at 12:30 PM! You can find more details about this conversation and register here.

Recruitment Season is Here
Impact Austin welcomes new and renewing members all year, but the active recruitment season is now upon us. The more members we have, the more we will award in 2021 grants. All our 2020 events are virtual, and we have an electronic recruitment brochure that is easy share from the URL https://tinyurl.com/impactatx20.

Please forward the brochure link to friends and colleagues whom you you’d like to join our events and #JoinImpactAustin. Guests are invited to recruitment events AND to philanthropy education events. In this way we share knowledge of our organization and how we make an impact with collective giving and grantmaking.

Community Partner Spotlight
CASA of Travis County was awarded our 2018 Catalyst Grant to recruit and train a more diverse group of volunteers that better reflected the children they serve and our community at large.

Their results are nothing short of inspiring! CASA recently shared a case study on the grant results. This video of their outcomes is also quite impressive!
Girls Giving Grants Recruiting Now!
New members are welcome to join Girls Giving Grants (g3) through September 25. Details and the registration link are on our website.

All meetings for 2020 will be virtual, and the 2021 schedule will be revisited by year-end. Since 2006, g3 has granted $90,000 to Austin-area nonprofits serving youth.

Hear from last year's president about their 2020 grants in the video to the left.
Zone Socials Go Virtual
Our Zones team is the best! They’ve crafted some super creative experiences, forging bonds among members and helping us to stay sane in quarantine.

Check our May 31 blogs for some fun recaps of earlier events, and read about more recent Trivia Night and Let’s Travel gatherings here.

Zones leaders will also facilitate two recruitment sessions on September 21 and 24. Bring friends to one or both of these Zoom gatherings. The more, the merrier! We’ll start with a quick and fun ice breaker, and then we’ll be inspired by a Community Partner story. Big applause and thanks to our Zones team!
