Events

2024 Annual Meeting

We had a great turnout for the 2024 Annual Meeting held in an exciting, new-to-us location: the Austin Public Library Special Events Center. You’ll find event photos throughout our social media. Find the virtual program here, and read a recap of the event on our blog. As always, the highlights were new grants announced in the Community and Education focus areas and the Girls Giving Grants award. Thanks to Alyssa Reyna, our sponsors, and volunteers for making our event possible!

2024 Community Partners Celebrated

It’s the most wonderful time of the year anytime we’re awarding new grants! Our Annual Meeting featured in-person voting on finalists for the first time since 2019. New Community Partners were celebrated the same night. Find more details about our grantees and the primary grant winners’ finalist videos here and in our press release.

2025 Grant Cycle

As announced previously, Impact Austin will not distribute grants in Fall 2024. Instead, our grantmaking policies and procedures are under revision and will be announced to members in detail at our November Town Hall Meeting. Nonprofit colleagues will be advised soon thereafter. Our 2025 grant cycle will launch in January with a Nonprofit Workshop. Member registration for Grant Review Committees will open sooner, in November. Total funds available for 2025 grants will be determined by membership levels as of December 31, 2024.

Girls Giving Grants

The 2024 grant from g3 was awarded to Foster Angels of Central Texas. The $8,500 grant will purchase gift cards for clothing for kids in foster care.

Registration for g3’s 2024-2025 year will open on July 15 to young women in grades 8-12. Find details about g3, the syllabus, and how to join here. Girls Giving Grants will meet in a new location this year: Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Texas at 4800 Manor Rd Building K. Advance thanks to BBBS for donated space to support g3's program.

Impact Austin thanks g3 Co-Chairs Karen Davenport and Summer McAfee. Summer is sadly stepping down, while Karen will work alongside two new co-chairs Mae Mendoza and Rebecca Birch. Thanks to all these women, plus g3’s adult Advisors, for mentoring our young philanthropists. New Advisors are needed to join the team. Your help matters! Email with questions or indicate interest.

Membership

Member Connections Book Club

While many committees take a July break, our Member Connections team is offering a fun Book Club Social on July 22. There is no specific book to read this time! Instead, members are urged to recommend their favorite summer reads and even bring a book or two to swap with others. A special summer cocktail will be offered, and members are invited to bring their dinner or snack from home. Register here to attend.

Hot Jobs for Impact Austin Volunteer

All committees need womanpower and welcome new volunteers. A few also need leaders to help keep the committee’s tasks and initiatives sustainable. Below are Impact Austin’s “hot jobs” right now; please sign up to support Impact Austin's work.

  • Events Committee Chair/Coordinator
  • Learning Committee Co-Chairs (2)
  • Membership Committee Co-Chair
  • Technology Committee Co-Chair

Volunteers Honored at Annual Meeting

We applauded several women who were nominated by the membership for their extraordinary volunteer service to Impact Austin. Congratulations to our members!

Committee of the Year – Membership

Core Values Members of the Year – Ami Kane and Lisa David

Volunteers of the Year – Maddy Compogiannis and Summer McAfee

Leadership

Impact Austin’s Board of Directors welcomed five new members while thanking three whose multi-year terms were completed. Appreciation goes to Jessica Forrest, Allison Marshall, and Ricki Wax, who remain members but transition off the Board. New directors include Kiyomi Beach, Anne Helmick-Lyon, Krista McNaughton, Ashley Stump, and Marty Swanger. Thanks to all for your board service!

Community Partner Spotlight

We were pleased to find 2022 Community Partner The Other Ones Foundation (TOOF) featured in the June 30 Austin American Statesman. TOOF received our $75,400 Health & Well-Being Grant. With Impact Austin support, they:

* Hired a Data Impact Specialist

* Increased data literacy

* Used data to drive quality improvement efforts

* Leveraged that data to win new grant opportunities

Find their detailed grant outcomes video here.
