A Message from Demetria

Let’s grow to 400 members together! Is there anything more uplifting than investing in Central Texas nonprofits with BIG grant checks? We just need your help to make that happen. Here's how:

First, you are valued as a member! You are part of our extraordinary legacy of impactful community giving, and we hope you’ll remain a member for a very long time.

Second, spread the word about Impact Austin to your networks with social media, texts, or email. Share, share, share!

Third, invite a friend or colleague to learn more about us. Is she an event person who learns best at a gathering? (Bring her to an event!) Does she like to do her own online research? (Share a favorite page or two from our website.) Would she love to hear about us over coffee, lunch, or wine? Then set a 'date' to share about what we do and how they can be a part.

The Membership Committee and staff have organized a series of events to connect potential members to you, to our mission, and to our Community Partners. Look at our growing array of gatherings – CONNECT events for coffee or wine; an information session in a member’s home next week; virtual CONNECT events; and November’s Town Hall Meeting. More events will be added in the fall. All events are open to members and their friends, anyone curious about Impact Austin, and even those wishing to support Impact Austin’s mission outside of membership.

Let’s grow our membership! We’re stronger together!

Moving forward, impactfully together,

Membership - LET'S GROW

Events for Recruitment and Member Mingling

Our Events page is full of upcoming gatherings that are perfect for introducing a friend or colleague to Impact Austin. You’ll see even more events added to our page as we move into fall. Remember all events are open to members, guests, and anyone interested in Impact Austin!

  • Membership Info Session – Sep 12 at a member’s home in SW Austin. Learn about Impact Austin while enjoying refreshments and mingling with other women.
  • Virtual Connect – On Sep 21 and Oct 19, meet at noon over Zoom with like-minded women while learning more about Impact Austin.
  • Connect with Impact Austin events - Typically on second and fourth Thursdays, alternating morning coffees and evening happy hours.

Zones becomes Member Connections

Impact Austin’s Zones initiative is rebranding as Member Connections, reinforcing the goal that their fun, varied events are primarily designed to cultivate relationships among existing members who might not otherwise meet. Of course, non-members will always be welcome to join any gathering. Member Connections events will be listed on the Events page and a new Member Connections page. On our blog, learn how and why the Zones initiative has transitioned.

The next Member Connections event offers the first Impact Austin Book Club in recent years. Bloomsbury Girls, A Novel by Natalie Jenner will be discussed. Joining us that evening will be Dr. Rosalind Oliphant, a member of Impact Austin’s Strategic Advisory Committee and a local literary champion. Find registration and details here.

Grantmaking

Equity and Health & Well-Being Grants

Grant Review Committees (GRCs) are hard at work. Last week the Equity GRC and Health & Well-Being GRC identified 11 total applications advancing to deep-dive review. Read more about the GRCs’ work and which organizations are moving forward. Three semi-finalists in each grant category will be named in late September, with site visits following in early October. Grants will be awarded at our Nov 14 Town Hall Meeting.

g3 Registration Open until Sep 15

Girls Giving Grants (g3) is registering new members until 5:00 PM on Sep 15. Spread the word to girls in grades 8-12 who are interested in philanthropy, community service, volunteer hours, or all three. Program details and registration are here. A recent blog offers all the reasons that girls would want to join g3!

Community Partner Spotlights

Over the summer, our Marketing Committee was lucky to have a college intern on their team. Lindsay Rosenberger, daughter of member Kristen Rosenberger, focused her writing on Girls Giving Grants. Among the blogs she authored were two updates on past g3 recipients, Helping Hand Home for Children and the Center for Child Protection. Check out her articles to learn how the impact of g3 funding has lived on.

Philanthropy Education

Impact Austin’s Learning Committee grew from our D.E.I.B. Committee and is now tasked with developing programs for Discovery Days and other philanthropy education sessions throughout the year. The first learning opportunity will be on Sep 29, 12:00-1:00 PM. Civic Engagement as a Tool for Impact will be a hybrid event available by Zoom and in person at the Austin Area Urban League. Last spring’s learning event was a panel discussion providing an overview of the 88th Texas Legislative session. Our upcoming event will build on that conversation and spread awareness of driving impact through acts of civic engagement.

20th Anniversary

We’re still celebrating Impact Austin’s 20 years! If you’re on social media, find Tuesday posts that share memories from years past. Recent blogs cover Impact Austin’s Commitment to Philanthropy Education and our Zones (now Member Connections) initiative.
