Our Member Connections team has been busy this month! They hosted a very special Book Club gathering with author Lisa Doggett, M.D., on Sep 11, and we volunteered with the Central Texas Food Bank on Sep 23. In October, look for the New Member Orientation on Oct 10, a first-ever Pickleball Social on Oct 16, and a volunteer opportunity with Austin Creative Reuse on Oct 25. The Membership Committee has championed a Facebook group for Impact Austin members. Chair Audra Morris writes, “We hope this Facebook group gives our members the opportunity to feel connected to Impact Austin as an organization and get to know each other a little bit better. Whether you're a new member eager to learn more or a seasoned philanthropist looking to deepen your engagement, this group will be your go-to place for inspiration, resources, and meaningful connections. We hope the group will be a place to elevate each other, share our stories, and amplify our impact together!”
Here’s how to join the group:
- Follow this link, request to join the group, and complete the three quick questions. Your request should be approved by one of the group moderators within 48 business hours.
- Please note this private group is designed for Impact Austin members only - to share ideas, seek advice, get together socially, and stay updated on the latest events, opportunities, and initiatives. Posts may be generated by anyone in the group.

Impact Austin reverted to a single grant cycle this year. Our 2024 grants were awarded at June’s Annual Meeting. Our 2025 cycle launches on Jan 8, with a virtual Nonprofit Workshop. Grant award amounts will be announced at that time and based on the Dec 31 membership count.
As a learning organization and a partner with our grantees, Impact Austin continues to evaluate our grantmaking practices. Grants leadership will announce changes to grantmaking at Town Hall. These will also be emailed to members and our nonprofit contacts that same week. Interested nonprofits not already on our contact list should reach out to contact@impactaustin.org.

The 59 members of Girls Giving Grants launched their grant cycle on Sep 23 with the announcement of a $6,500 grant opportunity. Applications are open until Oct 25 at 5:00 PM. The g3 grantmaking process starts with team building, community needs awareness, anti-bias training, and application review techniques. Throughout their program year, g3 members develop leadership and presentation skills. Their 2025 grant award will be announced in late April. | |
Registration is now open for our 2024 Town Hall Meeting on Nov 12. We’ll gather at a new location: St. Andrew’s Episcopal School on Southwest Parkway, specifically their Dell Fine Arts Center. Parking is easy, plentiful, and free. Signature Events like Town Hall are a benefit of Impact Austin membership, but guests are very welcome to join us for a $25 charge. 2024 Austin Impact Happy Hour

We’re pleased to be an Impact Co-Sponsor for this free networking event on Oct 17 at the Brewtorium. The goal? Bring together Austin's impact-driven community, including individuals from nonprofits, startups, community organizations, investment groups, accelerators, universities, and local government. Last year’s event was a huge success, with more than 100 attendees coming together to connect and network. SWAN Impact Network and SVP Austin are lead sponsors, and Impact Austin joins other promotional partners such as Austin Together, DivInc, and I Live Here I Give Here. Community Partner Spotlight | |
2023 Community Partner Austin Creative Reuse earned our $65,900 Education Grant for a project called Materials Mobile. The goal was to retrofit a vehicle that would deliver classroom supplies directly to schools. Busy K-12 educators could then “shop” at their site for new and gently used supplies at little to no cost – bringing high quality, reuse supplies directly to them. | |

Outgoing Executive Director Jennifer Evans complimented Impact Austin for their experience as a Community Partner.
“While additional funding is always essential to launching and firmly rooting new programs, the spotlight that Impact Austin has shone on the Materials Mobile program, both with its members and the community generally, has also made a significant impact on the success of the program in its first year. We look forward to continuing to strengthen our partnership in the years to come and to share stories of the Materials Mobile’s evolution to support the ever-changing needs of the educators and students in our community. Your supportive but critical engagement both during the application process and all throughout our grant period has helped us hone and refine our ideas for the project. We’re exceedingly grateful for a partner that offered financial support with the freedom to pilot different ideas and pivot the program based on what we learned. As you may know, that is very rare in the grant landscape, but we believe we now have a stronger program to offer because of it.”

We’ve launched a blog series titled “Impact Austin Women Making a Difference.” In July, we shared an article featuring Suzanne Daniels and the community fridge at Brentwood Social House. This month we wrote about two members who are making a difference on the issue of Affordable Child Care. Member-blogger Kali’ Rourke (also an advocate on this issue) wrote about the work undertaken by members Dr. Libby Doggett and Alison Alter, Austin City Council Member. | |
