District Delegates: Each Soil and Water Conservation District in good standing with the Indiana Association of Soil and Water Conservation Districts, Inc. will have the opportunity to send one SWCD Supervisor delegate to the Annual Conference business meeting. Please see further details on the delegate registration pageDelegate forms due by December 30, 2017 .

(Please note: If the delegate only plans to attend the Business Meeting and not the rest of Annual Conference, it is not necessary to register for the Annual Conference.)

The delegate will be required to attend the IASWCD Annual Business Meeting on Tuesday, January 9
9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
at the Indianapolis Marriott Downtown

Conservation Pays - Four Case Studies on the Economics of Soil Health - webinar now posted on NACD site
Datu research group, under contract with NACD, conducted a three-year project which found that using cover crops and/or no-till can result in an economic return of over $100 per acre.  Read the results and access the webinar on NACDs website.

New Interactive Story Map Shows Conservation Data
Explore Indiana State Department of Agriculture's new online story map. This online  interactive conservation map organizes information by Indiana's 10 main river and lake basins. From there, the information is condensed and available by watershed. Each basin includes sections on water quality and soil health that encompass everything from total acres of cover crops planted to sediments prevented from entering Indiana's waterways.

The Indiana State Department of Agriculture has unveiled the Indiana Agriculture Strategic Plan, which is focused on seven priorities, initiatives and actions to move the industry forward over the next decade. Read more ...

Indiana NRCS Invests in Local Watershed to Protect Communities and Vital Infrastructure
Indianapolis, IN, October 6, 2017 - USDA's Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) plans to invest $150 million in 48 new, multi-year projects that aim to build vital infrastructure while conserving natural resources in 20 states, including Indiana, through the Watershed Protection and Flood Prevention Program. NRCS works with local groups to help prevent floods, protect watersheds, improve agricultural water management and enhance wildlife habitat through this program.
  "Protecting lives and property while improving the natural resources within Indiana's watersheds is critical," Jane Hardisty, Indiana NRCS State Conservationist said. Read more...

Melanie Fitzpatrick has been named the new Indiana Soybean Alliance, Indiana Corn Marketing Council, and Indiana Corn Growers  Association's Senior Director of Marketing and Communication. She will begin her new position on  November 1.
