"If you are a gifted person, it doesn't mean that you gained something. It means you have something to give back."
Carl Jung

How is this possible -  we're at the midway point of another calendar already!?  This is the month of grads, school year-ends and so much more.

June is certainly shaping up to be another busy month here at Insights.  We've got two Face-to-Face portfolio events scheduled for the 15th, CP renewals scheduled for Fredericton and Halifax, and an update on our Global Cycling Challenge.

Some of you might be interested in attending the Live and In Colour Client Practitioner conference happening in Chicago in October, so we've got details below.  We've also got a great example of how one client helps keep the learning alive by using team wheels and communication charts in their internal newsletters, as well as the usual event updates and some interesting reads.

This month's newsletter is a little longer than usual, so we invite you to take ten, top up that coffee cup, and catch up on the latest news and information from Insights Learning and Development.
A Team Wheel as presented in a monthly newsletter from a senior VP.
BC Transit keeps the learning alive

Monthly internal newsletters for BC Transit personnel often contain an Insights Discovery Team Wheel.  In the words of one of their Accredited Practitioners -

"To date, we have actually used both the team wheel and team communication charts to keep the learning alive and to facilitate better connections across the organization.  We have many teams that are cross-functional and so we find that sharing the charts has been very useful.  The team wheels tend to create discussion, but I find there is a tendency to focus on who is in what quadrant more than the collective use of the energies.  The team communication charts tells the full story and people tend to resonate with the Do's and Don'ts more than looking at the wheel.  Generally speaking, folks tend to focus on the color energies instead of the 8 types.

I would say that the team chart definitely helps our employees be more strategic and purposeful in their interactions, as  they begin to think about things from the others' perspectives."

This is a great way to help keep the learning alive for your team members and to improve the return on investment with Insights.  If you publish an internal newsletter, or send regular communications to your teams, consider adding a Team wheel or communication chart.  To learn more about how BC Transit is using Insights, contact our office.

Exploring Values Based Leadership Webinar Recording

This webinar is always available to Client Practitioners via the Client Practitioner Resources tab on our website.

Pedal Pushing for Mary's Meals

Insights Global Charity Cycle Challenge

May 25th Insights Canada West team members joined fellow Insights teams around the world in a global cycling challenge in support of Mary's Meals International, providing meals to hungry children in 14 countries around the world.

Insights offices around the world hosted a global charity cycle challenge in support of Mary's Meals on Thursday, May 25th.  For the Vancouver office Golds Gym generously donated a stationary bike for the day, and in the Calgary office, Donna Phillips brought in her own stationary bike for the crew. Comptroller Rosalin Dalmann brought her own cycle, and during the lunch hour clocked 16 kilometers along the banks of the Fraser and Coquitlam Rivers (pausing to take photos from time to time).  Riders included Anne Bishop, Barry Christiansen, Rosalin Dalmann, Sharyn Skalnik, Nataliya Chopty, Susan Hansen, Lori Thorleifson, Leslie Cole, Steven Tory and Helen Morley.

By the end of the day, our legs and butts were sore, but we'd chalked up nearly 115 kilometers on the bikes and helped raise over $500.00.

The Vancouver team also thanks the fit fellows next door at Maximum Express & Freight who so generously volunteered to return the exercise bike to Golds Gym when our tushes were all just too tired to do it.

Finally, thank you to all those family members, friends, suppliers and customers who helped sponsor our riders - your pledges will help Mary's Meals continue their important work of feeding children around the world.

We did it - with thanks to you!
