A message from our music staff at First Church
For over two decades, First Church has been blessed to experience the unique talents and skilled musical direction of our beloved Associate Musician, Jack Forbes Wilson. As many of you know, Jack has recently been spending time with his parents in Lincoln, Nebraska. He has now come to the decision that this move will be permanent. So, while Jack will no longer officially be on staff at First Church as of January 1, he does expect to visit Milwaukee and hopes to return as a visiting guest musician from time to time.
On a personal note, we are extremely grateful for Jack’s most generous colleagueship, unbounded creativity, and collaborative spirit. Jack’s perspective on music in worship has left a lasting imprint on our congregation. Indeed, his influence flows through everyone his music has ever touched. We are deeply thankful for all that Jack has given to First Church, and we are sure that many of you may wish to express a similar gratitude. Since Jack has requested that we refrain from holding any official farewell ceremony or event, we encourage you to take the opportunity to thank him personally when he returns to provide music at upcoming services on December 22, 24 and/or 29. If you would like to share a written message, memory, or perhaps draw Jack a picture, please stop by the Membership Table where we will have a special book that you can sign beginning this Sunday, or any Sunday in December.
With much love and gratitude,
Alissa Rhode, Lead Music Director
Tristan Strelitzer, Choral Director
Teresa Drews, Collaborative Pianist
Personal note from Rev. Jennifer Nordstrom
Jack has changed our church with his music, his presence, his dedication to our people, and his artistry. We have been so fortunate to have him with us for the last two and a half decades, and we will be carrying his legacy forward with us for decades to come. I am personally sad to say goodbye to Jack’s creativity and effervescent spirit on staff and in worship, and I know he will be missed deeply by our community. While we are so sad to see him go, we wish him as much happiness as he has brought us as he moves forward in this tender and important time with his family. Thank you for everything, Jack. May you and your family be held in your coming journey, and may we see you when you visit us again soon.
Sincerely,
Rev. Jennifer
