AHW MINISTRIES NEWSLETTER About His Work with Janet August 2015 |
Woman To Woman Mentoring Ministry Still Going Strong and Growing!
In out January newsletter, I announced that LifeWay had reverted the rights back to me for the
Now that we're distributing ALL the Woman to Woman Mentoring resources, I can personally sign every DVD Leader Kit, Ministry Coordinator's Guide, Training Leader's Guide and Mentor and Mentee Handbook.
We're also updating and making revisions in reprints and the Mentor and Mentee Handbooks are updated!
I wanted to warn you that
there are independent people on
Amazon offering the VHS Leader Kit at a very low price, but it is NOT the revised DVD/CD Leader Kit. It's the original kit with a VHS tape, cassette, and floppy disc. So don't be fooled.
I am so blessed as many of you continue to start new mentoring ministries and/or are maintaining and growing your ministry. Our world desperately needs Bible-believing mentors who will help the next generation navigate the darkness prevailing in our culture today. But sadly, I know that not all Christian women share this call from the Lord. I did a survey on Facebook that was revealing but still encouraging. Read some of those survey results and How to Mentor in a World Forsaking God.
Enjoy the last days of summer, as we move into the new beginnings God has for all of us in the fall.

Let Me Visit Your Group!
Kids are heading back to school and it's time to start Fall Bible studies. I've been blessed as many of you have selected one of the seven Face-to-Face Bible Studies for your women's ministry or small group Bible study. Remember, there's a Group Leader's Guide in the back of each study.
I wish that I could participate in each of your groups, but with technology ... maybe I can! Here's a special I'm offering to every group that purchases from our website the Face to Face Bible Studies for their group in the months of August or September:
1. Place the order for your group from our website store. If you know the names of the women in your group, I can personalize each study when I sign it. There's a place to indicate how you want them signed when you order.
2. After we fill your order, contact me and we'll arrive at a date for me to have a short Face-to-Face Google Hangout with your group. I'm sure someone in your group will know how to do Google Hangout or we'll walk you through setting it up.
It's easy and free!
Can't wait to meet many of you face-to-face!

"GRAMMIE'S CORNER"
Last month, I told you about my 10-year-old grandson Brandon understanding the power of prayer when he said we needed to pray for him to recover from carsickness while hunched over the toilet in a convenience store bathroom! Well God answered that prayer in a mighty way, and He had more lessons for my grandchildren a few weeks later when they were with us for a week while the girls participated in Starlight Mountain Theatre Kids' Camp.
The last day of camp, Katelyn woke up sick and their first performance was that evening. We prayed for her in the morning and she made it through the last day of camp, but spent the afternoon curled up in a rocking chair sleeping.
I was so worried she wouldn't be able to perform that night and knew how disappointed she would be, so I was praying Scripture over her when I looked up and saw the kids' Sunday School teachers from our church standing at our sliding glass door. They knew the kids were with us and Miss Nancy was going to be leaving on vacation so she wanted to stop by and see them before she left. That's a dedicated Sunday School teacher since our grandkids are only at our church when they're visiting us in the mountains.
When they saw that Katelyn was sick and sleeping, they gathered around her with Grampa, Sienna, Brandon, and me, and we prayed for Katelyn to have a miraculous recovery and we would give God all the glory. I told these two precious women that they were angels God sent to us.
Katelyn woke up feeling better, ate dinner, and then relapsed back into the rocking chair. Brandon knew this was serious, so he went over to her and said, "We need to pray again! I'll pray ..." and this precious brother prayed for his sister to recover and be able to perform that night.
God was so gracious to let my grandchildren once again experience the power of prayer. The pictures above show Katelyn (blond third from the left in the second row) and Sienna (front row with a pink flower in her hair) doing the preshow "Applause."
We gave all the applause and glory to God.

Meet An Author
What was the inspiration behind your book, When God Sees Your Tears?
The story of Hannah in the Old Testament was the inspiration behind this book. Hannah was a woman who longed for a child so badly that she told God if He'd give her a son, she'd give him back to God. Hers is a story of God's withholding, at first, and then of the amazing things God accomplishes with her surrender over the course of time.
After 30 years of discipling women, and hearing about their longings and losses, I realized Hannah's is a beautiful story with many applications to women today who long for something, or have lost something, and they wonder if God really sees their tears.
I also weave in many stories of women today who believed God had forgotten them and then saw the wondrous things He did in their lives over the course of time. Like any woman, I've shed tears over what I've longed for and what I've lost and I know by now to trust God's wisdom and His timing, and that He is a much better writer of my story than I am.
You claim in your book that every woman experiences a "missing piece." Explain that.
We all experience a void in our lives at one time or another. And we believe if we just find that "missing piece" our lives will be complete. Hannah believed her missing piece was a baby. Many of us believe that missing piece is marriage, or having a baby, or accomplishing a dream. I believe God allows - and sometimes even arranges -- for us to experience that void in our lives so that we will realize HE is our missing piece.
What is your response when a woman asks "Why isn't God answering my prayer?"
God's timing is often different than ours. And it's always far better. God is also in the business of protecting us, often from what we cannot see. God's Word says He is a "sun and shield...No good thing does He withhold from those who walk uprightly" (Psalm 84:11, NASB). So if God is saying "no" to something you want, He is either shielding and protecting you from something you can't yet (and might not ever) see, or it isn't truly good for you. And sometimes God's "no" is really "wait, I have something far better for you that you haven't even thought to request."
Finally, how would you encourage a woman who begins to wonder if God has seen her tears?
I would encourage her to realize God knows what He's doing in her life, remember He wants what's best for her, and release to Him her fears, expectations, and desires by saying "God, You can manage my life far better than I can." A tremendous peace comes our way when we acknowledge, by faith, that God really is there, and He really is good.
