One of my first experiments with
self-hypnosis for self-healing was
for a neck injury I suffered when
cross-country skiing in 1988.
I didn't know it was self-hypnosis.
And it was before I ever became
trained as a hypnotist.
My shoulder was up to my ear,
guarding the neck. So much pain!
I read about the power of mental
imagery to help the body effect
Metaphorically, it felt as though
a vice, shooting hot red flames,
had gripped my neck.
I began to practice imagining
that I could easily unscrew the
vice with the little finger of my
Whenever the shooting pain
began, I would use that imagery
of lazily - almost effortlessly -
unscrewing the vice.
Ahhh....my shoulder would relax
and my neck would soften.
When the body relaxes, more
oxygen and blood - with healing
nutrients - can come to the area.
...and that's how easily I healed
my neck. It felt miraculous.
You, too, can learn how to do this.
