County of Blair Bridge 70 Rehabilitation Project

The County of Blair celebrated the completion of the Bridge 70 Rehabilitation Project on Thursday, November 30th in Greenfield Township.

Owner: County of Blair, Pennsylvania

Engineer: Keller Engineers, Inc.

Completion Date: November 2023

This project was undertaken to rehabilitate Blair County Bridge No. 70 that carries County Road 101 (Bedford Street) over South Poplar Run. The rehabilitation included repairing the existing reinforced concrete arch span, and the removal and replacement of the existing bridge traffic barriers, roadway surface, and fill material. The project also involved stream grading and construction of a rock cross vane upstream of the existing structure to minimize future sediment deposits in the stream channel and to redirect flow through the center of the structure. Additionally, reconstruction of sidewalks and construction of new sidewalks was completed to fill gaps and create a continuous, accessible route for all pedestrians.

This Commonwealth reimbursement grant program provides financial assistance for the acquisition and construction of regional economic, cultural, civic, and historical improvement projects.

RACP is a vital tool for communities across Pennsylvania. It helps to create jobs, boost tax revenues, and improve the quality of life for residents. The governor has extended the application deadline to 11:59 p.m., Friday, January 12th.

To be eligible for RACP funding, projects must meet the following criteria:

  • Be authorized in the Redevelopment Assistance section of a Capital Budget Itemization Act

  • Generate substantial increases or maintain current levels of employment, tax revenues, or other measures of economic activity
  • Have a total project cost of at least $1,000,000
