It's racing season in the bluegrass! If you haven't had a chance to make it out to Keeneland, there is still a month left of racing at Churchill Downs. Have you picked your Derby winner yet?

Speaking of winning, t he KYSITE traffic bowl team made it to the final round of competition at the Southern District Annual Meeting earlier this month, winning $750. The rest of the Kentucky members at the meeting had a great time and are looking forward to next year's meeting in Virginia.

In case you missed it, we had a great turnout for our joint spring meeting with OSITE. We heard presentations on the Brent Spence Bridge study and alternatives, how OKI is adapting to future transportation technologies, and Columbus's innovative smartlane application.

As always, don't hesitate to reach out to us.

In a statement, the company said that the first shipment of tubes has arrived at its R&D site in Toulouse. The first track, which is about to enter construction, is a ground-level setup running around 320 meters in length. It's thought that the smaller run will be ready for testing at some point this year.

Volkswagen Promises Autonomous Parking for 2020
Autonomous parking will be available in series-production vehicles as of 2020, the Volkswagen Group has announced, following trials now underway at Hamburg Airport.
In this program, Volkswagen, Porsche and Audi vehicles are self-navigating to spaces in the airport's multi-story car park, using a digital map plus simple pictorial markers in the building to aid orientation. These cars are equipped with an active surroundings recognition system, underpinned by sensors including radar, ultrasound and camera technologies, Data is processed in a central control unit in the car itself.
Place Making Projects

Portland's City Repair Project creates public gathering spaces and helps the community creatively transform their neighborhoods. The initiative has included over 60 street paintings like the one shown below. They are designed and painted by neighborhood residents, which helps bring the community together and encourages a sense of pride of ownership. Additionally, while these are not explicitly traffic calming devices, they have been shown to cause more careful driving in the area.
