The Changing Face of Transportation

 

As our September month has drawn to a close we look foward to the end of the year events including our Annual Banquet.  In addition to the upcoming annual banquet there is another training opportunity available in a couple weeks.  Training using AGi32, the software for designing lighting projects.  Registration information is in the text below.  There is some additional information about the annual banquet below and you should be expecting an email soon regarding registration information as well as some of the silent auction items that will be available to be bid on.

KYSITE Fall Technical Session

Thank you to all who participated in the 2017 KYSITE Fall Technical Session.  This techncial session was presented by Kimley-Horn via our own KYSITE members, Lindsay Walker and Aaron Heustess.  I also want to thank all of the attendees for the day; we had about 25 members who attended.

Aaron and Lindsay presented on all of the changes that have been made to the McTrans software HCS7 and have graciously made the entire presentation available to KYSITE.

KYSITE Annual Meeting

Heads up, the date for the  KYSITE Annual Meeting  is Thursday, November 2nd . Details are still being worked out on the venue, so s tay tuned for more details. 
AGi32 Intermediate Roadway Lighting 

Lighting Analysts will be hosting an Intermediate Roadway Lighting class to be held October 26th and 27th in Louisville. The class will start at 8:30 AM and go until 5:00 PM both days, check in time is 8:00 AM. Donna Gafford will be the instructor.

Through InComm's program, the RiverLink Starter Kit is now available as a prepaid tolling option for drivers crossing the Ohio River over the recently new and improved bridges connecting Louisville, Kentucky and Southern Indiana. The RiverLink Starter Kit, which contains a transponder and reload card, offers commuters a fast and convenient way to manage their RiverLink account, by taking their reload card to any participating retailer and using any payment method, including cash.


Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao recently told the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials that Congress most likely will not advance an infrastructure bill until after tax reform is completed. The agency will continue to reduce regulations and streamline the approval process until Congress adopts infrastructure legislation, she said.

Companies are investing huge amounts to develop autonomous vehicles, according to 3M Global Affairs Manager Dan Veoni, but the country's infrastructure is not ready. An entirely new ecosystem will be needed, he asserts, adding that some have likened the change to the transition from the horse and buggy to the automobile.
