The UK Student Chapter is back!
As you may know, the ITE Student Chapter at the
University of Kentucky was, for the first time, not represented at the SD
ITE Annual Meeting this year. Well, they're back in action! We are happy to announce the formation of an all new student chapter complete with a full compliment of officers,
several active members, and even
a new logo. They are already under way planning their first meeting and are working on fundraising ideas to ensure that we have a strong showing in Nashville next April.
Watch your inbox in the coming weeks for invitations to meetings and fun events where we can meet the new students (like a UK football tailgate party). This group is sure to be a great mix of fun and productive, so please join us in welcoming them to the KYSITE family.
As always, thank you for continued support.

FHWA and AASHTO release Findings on Guardrail Terminal Crash Analysis
WASHINGTON - Real-world crash data collected and evaluated by a Federal Highway Administration (FHWA)/Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) joint task force suggest that extruding w-beam guardrail end terminals made by several different manufacturers experienced performance limitations in certian impact and installation scenarios. These limitations have led the task force to make several recommendations, including implementation of next generation of guardrail terminal crash test criteria for new installations.
"The safety of the American public and the roads they travel on has been, and always will be, paramount to the Federal Highway Administration. This effort, the most thorough evaluation ever conducted of this particular roadside safety hardware , is one more step in a comprehensive approach by FHWA to protect drivers and their passengers." FHWA Administrator Greg Nadeaqu said. "Now, after months and months of analysis, one thing is clear: we must fully implement the next generation criteria as part of our roadside safety efforts."
