Happy Leap Day! Hope you get to enjoy this extra day that we only get to see every 4 years. As you know, leap year happens in years divisible by 4, such as 2020. However, did you know that the "century years" that aren't divisible by 400, such as 1900 and 2100, are not leap years? Well, now you do, even if most of us will never see one of those in our lifetime. As the Kentucky Section of ITE, we've gotten off to a quick start this year. We hosted our first technical meeting earlier this month and are currently working on a Spring meeting in April. It is been great to hear from so many of you after the last meeting. 2020 Winter Technical Meeting Thanks to everyone who made it to Lexington for our Winter Technical Meeting earlier this month. We heard from Adam Kirk on changes in roadway functional classifications and from various LFUCG staff on some of their current traffic projects and programs. A special thank you to all those who presented as the meeting would not have been possible without them. At the Winter Meeting, the KYSITE board members were also installed for 2020 after voting was completed in early January.

Student ITE Meeting sponsored by

The University of Kentucky student chapter of ITE held their winter meeting on February 20th. The meeting was sponsored by HW Lochner and students got to see a 3D presentation about one of Lochner's current projects, the Alcoa Highway. Some of the videos they shared can be seen on youtube . Very cool technology! Many thanks to John Hieronymus and Troy Woodyard of Lochner.

2020 Spring Technical Meeting

The KYSITE officers are currently working with the Ohio Section to develop a joint Spring Meeting. The meeting is tentatively set for April 22nd to take place at the OKI office in downtown Cincinnati. As soon as more details are set, an invitation will be sent out. We hope everyone can make it to the beneficial meeting.

Have a topic or training you are interested in learning more about? Have a project or lessons you've learned that others could benefit from? Reach out to our officers or KYSITE email with your ideas. We had some great suggestions after the most recent meeting and we love hearing what members are currently interested in while planning future presenters.

Upcoming Southern District Meetings!

This year's Southern District ITE meeting will be a joint meeting with ITE International in New Orleans, LA. For this reason, instead of in the Spring, the meeting will be taking place August 9th- 12th. We hope to take as many KYSITE members as possible. Registration is now open. If this is something you are interested in, be on the lookout for further information about potential partial scholarships for the meeting!

If you've been to any of our recent KYSITE meetings, you've heard us talk about the upcoming 2022 SDITE meeting that we will be hosting here in Louisville, KY. While we are still 2 years out, it takes this much time to plan these meetings. Committees will soon be forming to tackle this undertaking. In the meantime, consider your strengths and how you can help our section put together the best meeting possible.
