As the Breeders' Cup comes to the Bluegrass, we thought we would share a few fun facts about the race and its history that you can share with your friends as you participate in the upcoming festivities.
1. The first Breeders' Cup World Championship was held in 1984 at Hollywood Park in California.
2. The Breeders' Cup Trophy is an authentic bronze reproduction of the original Torrie horse that was created in Florence by Giovanni da Bologna in the late 1580s.
3. The official flower garland is comprised of the rare combinations of Beauty Asters, Golden Asters, Cremons and Catteleya Orchids.
4. Bayern was the winner of the 2014 Classic held at Santa Anita Park.
5. It has also become the unofficial end and culmination of the thoroughbred-racing season, often with the Breeders' Cup Classic being the deciding factor in Horse of the Year.

Bike Commuting: Still on the Rise
The latest analysis of Census data from the American League of Bicyclists tells us which cities are cycling to work the most.
In sheer numbers, the places with the most bike commuters reflect population, as well as decades of dedicated investment in cycling infrastructure in smaller cities like Portland, Seattle, and Minneapolis. It's also important to remember that mega-cities like New York City and Los Angeles have been steadily funding things like dedicated lanes, bike-share programs and street improvements that make biking a little easier, contributing to their ramped-up numbers.
The top 10 cities with the highest share of bike commuters are mostly college towns, where extensive bike infrastructure that may have been built originally with students in mind morphed into something non-student commuters heavily rely on. Davis, Canifornia, which has long had by far the highest share of bike commuters anywhere in the country, has bike lanes on 95 percent of its major streets.
