After a slow 2020, we have really been ramping things up in 2021 here at KYSITE. With almost half of the year behind us, we have already hosted a winter technical meeting and a joint technical meeting with the Ohio Section, attended the SDITE annual meeting, and begun planning many events in the next nine months. Here are some potential dates to go ahead and get on your calendars:

July 22nd - Summer Technical Meeting - Online
Late August - Golf Outing
Early November - KYSITE Annual Meeting and Technical Session
March 27-30 - 2022 SDITE Annual Meeting (in Louisville!)

SDITE 2021 Annual Meeting

Many of our members attended the Southern District Annual meeting, which was hosted virtually, this April. Along with interesting break-out sessions, a thought provoking key note speaker, and mentoring opportunities, Sections were asked to submit videos for the virtual roll-call. Since many of our Kentucky Section members did not get to see this, we wanted to share it with you here. Enjoy!

If you've been to any of our recent KYSITE meetings, you've heard us talk about the upcoming 2022 SDITE meeting that we will be hosting here in Louisville, KY. The local arrangements committee (LAC) has begun meeting and setting up committees to plan out all aspects of this conference. But did you know that Kentucky is one of the smallest sections in the Southern District? That means we need everyone (yes, even you!) to help us out with this meeting that is just 9 months away. There are a range of options for volunteering, all from leading a committee to planning just one technical tour. To help us out, email Lindsay Walker at lwalker@hmbpe.com today!

Technical Meeting

We are in the process of lining out a Back to Basics technical session for July 22nd. This is a great refresher for those more experienced but also the perfect introduction into Traffic and Transportation Engineering (and ITE) for our younger members. Do you have a coworker that's recently graduated? What about the one getting ready to take the PE? This will be a great opportunity to introduce them to ITE while learning transportation basics. Presenters and their topics are being finalized so be on the lookout for an email with more information.
