The Changing Face of Transportation

Happy Summer all!

The rain is mostly gone and the temperatures are rising.  Don't forget to stay hydrated and enjoy these beautiful (but hot) summer days.

Today, we'll focus briefly on the importance of professional organizations.  KYSITE / ITE has been very good to many of us and provided great opportunities to learn and give back.

So...why do so many join and participate in a professional organization.  The website 4C Blog has a good summary.

1. Broaden your knowledge

2. Take charge of your career

3. Build a better resume

4. Enhance your network

5. Be a Leader

6. Become a mentor

7. Make a new friend

8. Give back to the community

9. Strength in Numbers

10. Stay Inspired and Stay Motivated

The site describes each in more detail.  However, never underestimate the power of #8 and the long lasting benefit that can be achieve.

Talk to you soon.

Sporting Clays Event

For the first time ever (or at least in a very long time), KYSITE is going to host a sporting clay event.  It is scheduled for Thursday, August 27th.  The meeting will start at 10:30 at The Smith House Restaurant for a bar-b-que buffet and then move to The Elk Creek Hunt Club at noon.  The meeting cost of $85 will cover everything you will need except a shotgun!!!  So bring a good attitude, gun and leave the rest to us.

Ky. has $165.4 million surplus, but road fund falls short

The good news is the state finished the fiscal year with a $165.4 million surplus in the general fund.  But the bad news is the state's road fund has a $20 million shortfall.
The results were not unexpected.  State budget officials had predicted a general fund surplus just two months ago.  State officials also predicted a deficit in the road fund after falling gas prices automatically cut the state's gas tax rates.  State lawmakers agreed to freeze the gas tax in March, preventing what could have been a larger deficit.

Have You Seen That?

A soccer video two times in a row?  Yes, that is correct.  Check out this video from the Tampa Bay Rowdies.  We encourage you and your co-workers to try this out -- and send us the video.

Thanks for your continued support of KYSITE!
