BUILDING CONFIDENCE IN TECH
Last week, our Grade 8 students took part in a tech-focused day designed to enhance their digital skills and well-being. The day kicked off with a session on social, emotional, and wellness topics led by our Wellness Counsellor, Andrea Alkalay. Following this, students rotated through four interactive workshops, each covering essential technology skills and responsible digital practices. They learned to navigate Google Suite tools, responsibly integrate AI (focusing on ChatGPT) into their studies, master sourcing and citation basics, and explore digital citizenship, including responsible social media use and school policies. This immersive experience equipped students with practical skills for thoughtful and effective technology use, setting them up for success in their academic journey!
FIRST-TIME HOSTS OF PROVINCIAL TOURNAMENT
We are excited to share great appreciation for everyone from our school who came together to host the BC Boys A Provincial Soccer Tournament. It was the first time in our school’s history that we have hosted a Provincial Tournament. This major event showcased our school community and spirit, bringing together 16 teams from across the province, including participants as far away as Vanderhoof, BC.
David Amram led the planning and organization as the tournament director, working diligently since last May to ensure every detail was in place. The organizing committee, consisting of Cam Metcalfe, Marie Vondracek, Cale Macdonald, and Matt Dichter, played a crucial role in making the tournament a reality.

We would also like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the many student volunteers who dedicated their time and energy to the tournament. They collected stats, provided commentary for the bronze medal game, organized awards, filmed the matches, and assisted with various tournament tasks. Their enthusiasm and commitment were instrumental in making the tournament a success.
Thank you to everyone who participated and supported our school during this exciting event. We look forward to building on this experience for future endeavors!

Mazal Tov to the Senior Girls' Volleyball Team for winning the silver medal at the Vancouver Sea to Sky Highway Zone Championships hosted by St. John’s School. This marks the first time in school history that the Lions have reached the finals, with their previous best result being a bronze medal. The team demonstrated exceptional sportsmanship, poise, and teamwork, and we are all so proud of them!
This week, we shine a spotlight on David F. L., a Grade 8 student whose kindness and inclusive spirit are making a big impact within our school community.
From the very beginning of the school year, David has stood out as a young leader—always willing to lend a hand, offer encouragement, and ensure everyone feels welcome.
At the recent Grade 8 Retreat, David’s leadership truly shone. He went out of his way to help his peers connect, fostering a sense of unity and friendship among his classmates. His ability to bring people together and create an inclusive environment is genuinely inspiring. David is also a member of the Junior Boys' Soccer Team, where his sportsmanship and teamwork further highlight his dedication to supporting those around him. He also plays soccer outside of school for VAFC.
David, thank you for showing us what it means to lead with kindness and empathy. Keep inspiring us all with your compassion and dedication—you are a true inspiration!

World Children's Day Rally
We are proud that King David will be a key participant in the Rally to Support Israel on Sunday, November 10, at 2:00 p.m. at the Vancouver Art Gallery. We’re uniting for a powerful rally, demanding the immediate and safe release of hostages from Gaza. Together, we stand in solidarity with the families of the hostages, those who are grieving, the displaced, and all who have suffered since October 7th. Your participation will be crucial in making this rally impactful and meaningful.
Please walk around the gallery building. We will be there, though the specific spot may vary.
