HONOURING REMEMBRANCE DAY
On Friday, we gathered for a truly meaningful and beautiful Remembrance Day assembly, led entirely by our Grade 10 students. Their poise and thoughtfulness were inspiring, demonstrating the depth of understanding and respect they hold for this important day. A special thank you goes to teachers, Shira Bogner, Amanda Cameron, and Matt Dichter for their dedication and hard work in organizing this assembly. Their commitment ensured a powerful and reflective assembly that resonated throughout the school community.
STANDING TOGETHER: A COMMUNITY RALLY
On Sunday, November 10, our staff and students were key participants in the weekly rally at the Vancouver Art Gallery to advocate for the release of hostages. Speaking before a crowd of over 150 people, they shared reflections on the profound impact of the war on children and the crucial role that our younger generation plays in the fight against antisemitism and in supporting Israel’s right to exist. Our students and staff led the audience in singing, offered prayers for the hostages and Israeli soldiers, and closed the event by leading the Canadian and Israeli national anthems. Thank you to everyone who joined us in solidarity, including students, siblings, parents, grandparents, rabbis, teachers, community members, and allies—your presence meant so much. We continue to pray for the safe release of the hostages.
KING DAVID STAFF AND STUDENTS SHINE
King David staff and students proudly joined the Canadian Shaare Zedek Hospital Foundation event, Voices of Resilience, in a heartfelt show of unity and support. The students brought an inspiring energy and dedication, making them an essential part of the evening's success. The student choir delivered a touching performance, and student volunteers warmly welcomed guests as ushers, adding to the evening's meaningful atmosphere.
GLIDING INTO FUN AND FRIENDSHIP
The Grade 9 Boys' Physical Health Education class enjoyed an exciting ice skating field trip, where they laced up their skates and took to the rink with enthusiasm. For many, it was a chance to hone their skills on the ice, gliding, racing, and attempting new moves. Some students who were new to skating embraced the challenge, stepping out of their comfort zones and supporting each other as they learned to balance and move.

REMEMBERING BEN Z"L - A BEACON OF LIGHT
At a recent Women's Challah Bake event, King David alumnus Leah Weidman, Class of 2018, was invited to talk about her friend Ben Mizrachi z"l.
"It is an honour to be here with you today, as we join in solidarity with thousands of Jewish women worldwide to make challah together, praying for the safety and protection of everyone in Israel and for the safe return of our hostages.
October 7th marked the beginning of a tragic chapter for Israel and Jewish communities around the world. One of my closest friends, Ben, whom I went to high school with, made Aliyah in 2018 shortly after we graduated. He enlisted in the army and served until 2022, and continued living in Israel, deeply connected to the country he called home. Ben was at the Nova festival, and despite the danger, he made the courageous choice to stay and help the injured, using his paramedic training from the military. Tragically, he was murdered for no other reason than being Jewish and proudly living in Israel. His bravery knew no bounds, leaving a mark on all who knew him.
Ben was more than just a close friend to me; he was a beacon of light in every room he entered. Today, as we come together to make challah, pray for Israel, honour our fallen soldiers, those lost to terror, and those still being held hostage, I feel especially connected to Ben and his unwavering spirit."
