L'DOR V'DOR - CELEBRATING SUKKOT TOGETHER

This week saw the celebration of one of the most joyous holidays of the Jewish year and our sukkah was filled with activity despite the rain!

We welcomed many of our local Rabbis to share the meaning and mitzvot of the holiday with students, Thank you to Rabbi Yechiel Baitelman, Rabbi David Bluman, Rabbi Carey Brown, Noam Fogel, Rabbi Ishai Gotlib, Rabbi Jonathan Infeld, Rabbi Arik Labowitz, Rabbi Dan Moskovitz, Rabbi Susie Tendler, Rabbi Dovid Rosenfeld, Rabbi Adam Stein, and King David's Rabbi Stephen Berger!

We hosted the JCC Daycare promoting the traditions to the wider community. Thank you to everyone for joining us!

Thank you to our PAC parents for the hot chocolate and snacks outside the sukkah!

The week's highlight was the Tea for Grandparents and Elders We Love on Tuesday. With over 180 guests, we filled the Atrium! Unfortunately, due to the rain, we were unable to fulfill the mitzvah of sitting in the Sukkah but with a quick pivot, our students led the blessing while shaking the Lulav and Etrog in the Atrium, followed by the afternoon tea with grandparents and grand-friends. Our annual Sukkot Tea certainly fulfilled the mitzvah of bringing family and friends together to shake the Lulav and Etrog.

A special thank you to Music Teacher, Johnny Seguin, and his talented students for providing the beautiful background music.

Thank you to Esther Mogyoros, Justine Folk, Michele Zychlinski, Orly Naim, Rabbi Berger, and Ivana Vuckovic for planning and setting up the event. Thank you to Rabbi Berger and the students for guiding us all through the traditions and meaning of the holiday.

Chag Sameach!

Our Foods Teacher, Hilit Nurick, and her Senior Foods team baked and served treats including Scones with Strawberry Jam and Cream, Honey Cake, Chocolate Babka, Brownies, and Almond Crescent Cookies. Thank you for the many hours spent preparing such a delicious spread!

NEW EGALITARIAN MINYAN

This week, King David introduced a new Minyan and Munch option - an Egalitarian Minyan on Tuesday mornings before school. This week's Minyan was supported by Temple Sholom's Rabbi Dan Moskovitz. Community Rabbis will be coming in weekly to pray with the students and staff. Students now have the opportunity to participate in this Minyan and the traditional Minyan on Thursdays. The Egalitarian Minyan uses the prayerbook of the Reform and Conservative movements while the traditional minyan will be using the traditional Siddur.

PATH TO EXCELLENCE: PREPARING CAIS SELF-STUDY

Last week, our staff began an important process in preparation for our CAIS Accreditation. Over the next 12 months, we will engage in a Self-study focused on three key areas: Strategic Planning, Academic Programs, and School Operations. This reflection is a crucial part of assessing our current practices, and their effectiveness, identifying areas for growth as we strive for continuous improvement.

They continued working within their Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), collaborating to research effective practices and identify strategies that best support student learning. By working together in these PLCs, our faculty are fostering a culture of shared learning and innovation, ensuring that our students benefit from the most effective teaching methods that support student-centred approaches.
