TOGETHER WE ACHIEVE GREAT THINGS!

We are deeply grateful for the overwhelming generosity of our King David family. Thank you to our parents, alumni, friends, community members and matchers—we surpassed our goal, raising $77,868 in just one day!

Our heartfelt thanks to our matching donors Richard and Darlene Ames, Diane Friedman and Mark Liedemann, Dr. Jonathon and Karly Leipsic, Dr. Robert and Elke Mermelstein, Norman and Sandra Miller, and Yvette Porte, for helping us achieve this incredible goal:

Your kindness ensures every Jewish child can learn, grow, and feel safe in a nurturing, inclusive environment. Together, we’re strengthening Jewish education, resilience, and connection to Israel, empowering the leaders of tomorrow.

Thank you for making this Day of Giving a true celebration of unity and hope. Because of you, we’re building a brighter future for Jewish Vancouver.

KING DAVID HAS RUACH!

At King David, ruach—the spirit of enthusiasm and community—is a cornerstone of our school experience. To infuse the school with excitement and unity, the Student Leadership Team organized a fantastic Spirit Week, filled with creative non-uniform days and engaging themes.

Student Leadership also organized movies and games at lunch with hot chocolate and popcorn!

The week kicked off with Pajama Monday, where students started their week in cozy attire. Monochrome Tuesday followed, inviting everyone to make bold statements in single-colour outfits. On Jersey Wednesday, students proudly sported their favourite team gear, showing off their sports spirit. Decade Thursday took us on a journey through time with outfits inspired by iconic eras, and the week wrapped up with Nationality Friday, celebrating our diverse backgrounds with pride.

Spirit Week not only encouraged creativity and participation but also strengthened our sense of community, making it a memorable experience for all.

A YEAR OF SUCCESS AND COMMUNITY

King David High School’s Annual Report highlights the achievements and milestones of our community over the past year.

This report reflects the dedication of our students, staff, and supporters, celebrating another meaningful year at King David.

EXPLORING THE FUTURE: TOURING UBC

A group of Grade 12 students enjoyed an exciting visit to the University of British Columbia (UBC), where they participated in an engaging campus tour. This experience offered them a firsthand look at university life, sparking inspiration and providing valuable insights into the possibilities that await them in their academic journeys.

HONING SKILLS!

The Grade 8 Boys PHE class faced off in competitive Spikeball matches! This engaging, non-traditional sport challenged students to sharpen their quick reflexes and finesse to score points. The energy was high, with students diving for loose balls and making exciting plays. Fun and intensity were in full swing!

The Junior Boys Navy Basketball team has been hard at work focusing on ballhandling fundamentals. In this session, players are mastering control by staying low and dribbling with power to build confidence and precision with the basketball.

Natan G. drives hard to the basket, attempting an acrobatic reverse layup against a strong defence. The senior team are already bringing the hustle and creativity to the court this season!

CONTINUING TO SPREAD CHESED AND LIGHT!

King David students brought the warmth and joy of Hanukkah to the seniors in the L’Chaim program, leading a special activity that celebrated the festival of lights. Through meaningful interactions, song, and creative activities, they shared the spirit of chesed (kindness) and brightened the day for everyone present.

This beautiful initiative continues the cherished l’dor v’dor (generation to generation) tradition, fostering deep connections and passing on the values of Jewish culture and community. It’s inspiring to see the next generation carrying forward these timeless customs, spreading light and kindness wherever they go!

THANK YOU, RABBI BROWN

Thank you Carey Brown, Rabbi at Temple Shalom and mom of our Yael G, Grade 10, for joining us to lead Tuesday's Egalitarian services! Every Tuesday at 8:05 a.m., we have a different guest Rabbi visiting. Everyone is welcome!
