NEVER FORGET IS NOW! KING DAVID REMEMBERS

Students commemorated International Holocaust Remembrance Day with reflection, learning, and remembrance. As we are witnessing an alarming rise of antisemitism around the globe, it is more important than ever for us to recognize the critical lessons of Holocaust history as we commemorate the victims and honour the survivors.

FOCUSSED AND DETERMINED. RISING TO THE CHALLENGE

This week, students met the challenge of academic growth as they engaged with their exams, with focus and determination. Our students were well prepared by their teachers to flex their intellectual muscles in 90-minute exams in two of their core courses.

FROM FUNCTIONAL GROUPS TO REAL-WORD APPLICATIONS

Students in the Chemistry 11 Accelerated class became experts in organic chemistry by working in small groups, each focusing on a specific functional group. They explored eight common functional groups and shared their findings with the class, learning from one another through this collaborative experience. As they conclude the organic chemistry unit, students will apply their knowledge by presenting an individual research project on an organic molecule that plays a role in everyday life.

BUILDING BRIDGES

Students from École Jules Verne visited King David for a day of connection and friendship. Through games, meaningful discussions, and shared meals, they discovered just how much they have in common. It was a wonderful opportunity to build bridges between our communities, and we can’t wait to continue this exchange when we visit École Jules Verne next month!

A NIGHT OF FUN AT KING DAVID'S SALOON

The Atrium was transformed into the King David Saloon and was filled with energy and excitement as parents and teachers came together for a fantastic line dancing evening, hosted by the Parent Advisory Committee. Thank you, PAC, for organizing such a fun-filled night of music, dancing, and laughter! With prizes for the best costumes and top dancers, it was truly an unforgettable event.

This week, we proudly recognize Grade 10 student Ella Gelfand, a standout both in and out of the classroom. Ella’s dedication spans academics, athletics, and community service, demonstrating her ability to balance a full and enriching schedule. Alongside her studies, she maintains a part-time job, prepares for ski season with rigorous dryland training, and actively gives back through volunteer work.

Ella made history this year as a key member of the school’s ski team, securing a third-place finish in the final race—the first podium finish in our school’s history. Her determination, resilience, and competitive spirit have set a new benchmark for the team, and we are excited to see her continue to excel in the seasons to come.

Congratulations, Ella, on this outstanding achievement—you truly inspire us all!

SPORTS WINS ALL AROUND!

Mazal Tov to the Senior Girls' Basketball team for the big wins this week! Elly M was voted MVP and the team got an honourable mention, making them a Top 15 team in the province!

Not to be outdone, King David’s Ice Hockey team scored an exciting victory as well! Their teamwork and determination paid off on the ice.
