Experiencing and Expressing Christ's Love
Greetings from Lafayette UMC!
This is how we are sharing life together this week.
Message From The Pastor
Hello and Happy Wednesday!

We had a joyful 10 people at Wonderful Wednesday Coffee this morning! We hope you'll consider joining us next week from 8-10am at Papillion for a chance to catch up with others and find out what is going on in our community.

I am back from the California-Nevada UMC Gathering of Spiritual Leaders in Asilomar and my trip to Tahoe, and had a wonderful time at both. The Gathering of Spiritual Leaders was a busy mid-week retreat where I learned lots of things about where our Conference is headed and what the leadership is doing to equip and support local churches. I also got to observe new tools and opportunities for connection, and hear about what other churches are doing to point them toward the future. I look forward to sharing more very soon with the LUMC community about our visioning work paired with some new tools and how I believe those two combined will help us to grow disciples and transform the world, starting right here in Lafayette.

For the Tahoe trip we stayed at the United Methodist Retreat Center in Kings Beach and had a great time with lots of snow. I am so thankful for Judy Stillman, Jim Straw, and all those who stepped in during my absence to keep things running smoothly.

Stay warm and have a great week!

Blessings,
Pastor Lauren Michelle
In Our Prayers
In whatever way you do it, I encourage you to pray this week for our church family, our community, and our world. For these prayers and for this journey of prayer, let us all say, "O Lord, hear our prayers!"

We lift up prayers for the world:
  • Gratitude for all of our many blessings and joy over each beautiful and blessed day.
  • For love to spread throughout the land and in our hearts for all time.
  • For all the ways in which people are harmed by violence, racial injustice, police brutality, natural disasters, climate change, lack of housing, and things that threaten neighbors' love for one another.
  • For all the ways in which gun violence has harmed communities near and far.

We lift up prayers for our community:
  • The recovery of Carol Sebastian's brother Fred Oppel, as well as a diagnosis for her niece's husband Bill Braddock.
  • Mark L. (not Mark Logan) who is still battling infections.
  • Wisdom for Gloria C. Duffy for her service on the Congressional Commission on the U.S. Strategic Posture.
  • Cameron Sanders, Bob Lewis, Bob and Holly Nickolls, Winston Van Winegarden, Jeff Sawdon, The Dreyer Family, The Cooke Family, David Chow, Barbara Levander, Mary Henderson, Baby Wyatt, Stacy, Kevin Slimak, and Donna Walls.
