Help us reach our goal of 100% participa tion!
Montessori Works

Because Montessori works, and those things on the shelf, they're works too.

The Snake Game
The Addition Snake Game is a fun and exciting way for children to begin memorizing addition facts.
The goal of this work is to turn the colorful snake into a golden snake by counting to ten! Let's explore.

The game has three different components which are organized by colored boxes in a single tray. The black and white box houses the Black and White Bead Stair. Multicolored beads are in the red box, and of course the golden beads are in the gold box!

From previous work in the classroom, the child will be familiar with the colors associated with a certain quantity. For example, one is red. Four is yellow. With the Addition Snake Game, children are building on this math knowledge to begin memorizing addition facts!

To learn the details of each step of the snake game visit the Montessorium website here!
The child feels a lot of excitement when they are able to work with the Snake Game! It helps them identify sets of 10, which will solidify their knowledge of basic addition facts, such as 4+6, 7+3, all equalling 10. The world of math unfolds before them, and they are able to embrace it without hesitation.
A Welcoming from the
Board of Directors

On behalf of the Leelanau Montessori Board of Directors, we would like to warmly welcome all our new and returning families back to school! So great to see so many of you at the Ice Cream Social! The evening was a hit! We had a swift change in location of gathering, much appreciation to the Suttons Bay library for accommodating us. Thank you to our Gathering Committee for organizing such a wonderful event. And much gratitude to Lil Bee's for providing ice cream, cooler and welcome back sign.

The Board of Directors have worked diligently throughout summer to better serve our school and community. We had a board retreat in August to familiarize our new trustees with board function and our charter/lease contract, as well as review for all trustees. We will have another retreat in the Fall to review our Strategic Plan, and Winter retreat with our amazing staff.

Our Board meets the third  Monday of each month in the Suttons Bay media center, please do not hesitate to be a part of discussions. The board greatly appreciates and encourages volunteering of family members, and encourages all to consider joining our committees. Committee meeting times are on our website.

Our Board looks forward to the future of our school, and continues to strive to preserve our mission with integrity and grace:
Leelanau Montessori Public School Academy nurtures the whole child in a prepared environment based on respect, individuality, a love of learning, and freedom with responsibility.

In gratitude,
Sarah Bordeaux
Board President
