LSC Families,
Welcome Back - What a World Cup!!!
Train hard, play hard, have a smile on your face.
We have a number of new faces at LSC, at the recreational, Jr. Academy and Select levels of play. Please welcome them and help them to integrate into the LSC way of doing things. We also have a number of old faces in new positions, all based on strategic planning to improve our programs now and for the long term, in the interest of player development.
We believe that our staff and our volunteers are the best they have ever been and we are excited to see more soccer players than ever playing the great game in all of our programs.
Please reach out to me if you have suggestions, questions or even ideas to make our club better. We have many moving pieces and I promise you we are working continuously to improve facilities, develop opportunities and create a mastery learning environment on the soccer field for your children.
Youth sports brings adversity, as long as we manage that adversity well as coaches (adults), parents (adults), and players; relative to the age and level of the players, then that same adversity, can be the ultimate success in this experience.
We Are Lonestar!

We hope everyone enjoyed the summer and had an opportunity to watch the World Cup. As the 2014 Fall Season is upon us, the staff has been working extremely hard on getting teams formed, and game schedules complete so we can start playing soon. We have two new Rec locations this season with the additions of our Round Rock and Taylor sites. Both of these sites will be led by Robert Lopez and we are excited about the future at both of these new locations. WCRP or Williamson County Regional Park will also be a site added to the Rec level, Jeny Mather will be leading this location as well as the Milburn site (North). Grant Stettner will once again be heading up our AUC (South) location. We appreciate everyone's patience through team formation and scheduling as we are all excited to start the Fall season.

We wish to welcome all the returning players and families back for yet another season of Jr.Academy soccer and want to say welcome to all the new players and families into the program. We are very excited about the Fall 2014 season and are extremely thankful to each family for giving us the opportunity to work with all the players in the program. Rory Blanton will be leading our Westcreek (South) location this year and that location continues to grow each and every year. Mark Teale leads our C.B.A. (Central) location which went from one Jr. Academy team last spring to 5 Jr. Academy teams this Fall. Ron Gonzales will lead our WCRP (North) location and Steiner Ranch (West) location this Fall season. Vijay Dixit will be back at the Town and Country (North) location. We appreciate the support all the parents have given to our program and look forward to yet another great season of soccer.

USSDA & TEPAL: Vic Pace
2014-15 United States Soccer Development Academy (USSDA)
The 2014-15 season began with a pre season trip to South Carolina for the 3 USSDA teams. During the trip the teams were able to visit a few colleges and get a behind the scenes tour from the coaching staff. The schools visited during our trip: USC Upstate, Wofford, Furman and Clemson. The boys also got to take in a college game as Clemson faced University of Alabama Birmingham in a pre season match. The trip was also highlighted with matches each day versus the Carolina Elite Soccer Academy and the Carolina Rapids, both are members of US Soccer Development Program. The season kicks off September 21st and 27th for all teams. Good Luck to all the boys! 2014-15 Texas Pre Academy League (TEPAL)
The TEPAL teams have also enjoyed a good pre season with several matches and tournaments versus teams in Texas and Oklahoma. The 01 TEPAL team had a successful Austin Labor Day Cup winning the championship while playing up an age group. Congratulations to all the boys and good luck in the upcoming season. The season begins for both teams September 21st away to the Houston Texans.
ECNL: Darren Warham
I would like to welcome our new and returning ECNL players and families for the 2014 - 15 ECNL season. Both myself and Alex are excited to see the new players meshing well with their respective groups as we look forward to the season kicking off on September 6 against Albion at WCRP. In total the Lonestar ECNL teams competed in 26 competitive preseason games spread across two weekends at the Aggieland Friendship Tournament and ALDC, losing only one game while playing up in divisions a year older. Four teams, 01, 00, 99, and 98, competed in and finished up their preseason preparations by winning their respective divisions at ALDC. The ECNL Division staff and players would like to wish the best of luck to all of the Lonestar SC teams in the fall.
BPL: Steve Bailey
We are now almost a month into the season and the PLW boys are doing well. We are now done with our pre-season phase of our training and games. We are just a few days away from the start of our season and we are looking forward to league play. The teams have been able to get in some important games these past few weekends. All the games leading up to the start of league have been very useful and vital to preparing us for the season. We are continuing to grow as a group and learn every day we are on the field.
Austin Labor Day Cup overall was a very positive weekend and some good lessons learned. The record for the weekend was 5 wins 1 tie and 1 loss for the premier boys. Congratulations to the 97 boys who were crowned champions. The bar continues to be raised and this weekend was a great example. The players did a good job of trying to play and do the right things on the field. We have a lot of determined players and a great team atmosphere which is the fuel needed for success. We must stay focused and eliminated as many mistakes as possible before heading into league play.
Thank you to all the families for their support of the team and Lonestar Soccer Club.
GPL: Mark Carr
First off, I want to take a moment to welcome our players and families to the GPL division here at Lonestar. At the start of a new season, there are new hopes, players, coaches, new goals and new expectations. I am excited and enthused about the direction of our program and I am looking forward to getting into PLW play this weekend. We are ahead of where we were last year and we must continue to move forward everyday in the training environment.
Our preseason has been very productive and I have seen all our teams start coming together with some great performances and results. We all have to mindful that it is the journey that matters and sometimes performances will mask results and results will mask performances. There will be confident days and maybe not some confident days. Our focus will be on development and winning. Development will come first and then the scoreboard will take care of itself.
As we head into the opening weekend of PLW play, I want to take this moment to thank you for your support of our program. Get behind the girls this weekend and WEAR RED!!!
D1/SCL Boys: Allen Fincher
The 2014-2015 campaign has kicked-off in tremendous form for the Boys DI/SCL division. After a great four day team camp, the groups enjoyed a weekend of inter-club scrimmages that presented a good benchmark for the fall. Through the middle portion of August, the groups continued to build on the principles of the game while increasing their match fitness. The pre-season came to an end with the conclusion of the Austin Labor Day Cup. The hard work and focus that has been put in by the groups was evident during the 3-day event. The teams are poised to start league play and, more importantly, continue to develop.
01B Black
D1/SCL Girls: Eric Stilley
We have had an excellent pre-season to date. The girls have trained hard and competed well in matches. The u11s are adjusting to select soccer which is very natural and the teams that are transitioning from 8v8 to 11v11 are facing a similar transitional period. With that said the coaches have already seen massive progress from all of our groups and in many cases that has led to winning a host of invitational tournament titles already. If we can keep the progress going and the kids continue to work hard and enjoy their soccer we can look forward to an excellent league season.
S2/D2 Boys: Alfonso Gutierrez
The SII DII Boys division has been extremely busy. In a little more than 3 weeks we had our pre season camp, a number of friendly games and 2 Houston Tournaments and our Austin Labor Day Tournament was the last event to get us ready for the incoming season. Our teams competed well, showing improvement from game to game with several teams winning the Tournaments. Regardless of the results every player is mentally, physically, technically and tactically better than he was when we started just 3 weeks ago.
S2/D2 Girls: KC Crabb
The SII/DII girl's program completed a tremendous preseason. Each team has improved in their fitness levels, tactical understanding, and technical precision. Preseason was comprised of a three day training camp, a travel tournament, and the Austin Labor Day Cup. The players hard work, drive, and focus ensured the preseason went successfully. The teams are poised to start league play and, more importantly, continue to develop.

Uniform Collection:
We would like to thank you all for the overwhelming support of our 'Uniform Collection Project'. We have partnered with 2 organizations to ensure our donation go to children all over the world. St. Stephen's Episcopal School will be taking our donations to children in Haiti and SameTeam will be delivering your uniforms and equipment to children from East Austin to East Africa!
We are still collecting uniforms so if you have anything you still wish to donate, please drop them off at our North or South Lonestar offices.
Here is a thank you note we received from SameTeam:
"We have long thought of the Lonestar soccer club as family. Having had three kids stain Lonestar uniforms with their blood, sweat and tears, we have made lifelong friends whom we can ask anything of, and would do anything for.
When we first formed this non-profit, Same Team, one of our thoughts was that, if nothing else, we knew that we could count on the generosity of our Lonestar family. What we didn't know was just howtotal this support would be. Not only were the donations abundant, but so were the words of encouragement - words in perfect alignment with our Same Team vision to bring joy and care to others; words that warmed our hearts, and lifted our spirits.
As we stated in our original plea, the cost of even the most modest uniforms and soccer equipment is a barrier for tens of thousands of kids in Africa and South America participating in a sport that we've love -- a sport we know they'll love, now that we have given some of them this chance.
This donation will allow many of them to have a team and teammates for the very first time. We are not just sharing our shin guards, we are sharing a lesson that Lone Star Soccer Club re-teaches us every time we step on field -- "look to help your teammates" whether they are on the other side of the field or the other side of the world.
This lesson was personified by the LSC staff from start to finish, but nothing was more rewarding than seeing even the club's youngest players realize that someone else will love their used shoes, perhaps many times more than they did when they first tried them on brand new.
In the fullest and most personal sense of the expressions, Thank You, and may God Bless You."
