LPMA Assembly Representatives Advocate
for Loan Repayment Aid to Psychiatrists
in Public Settings
Action papers brought to the American Psychiatric Association (APA) pay off! LPMA Assembly Representatives, Drs. Mary Jo Fitz-Gerald and Mark Townsend authored an action paper asking APA to advocate at the state and federal level for funds to help repay loans for psychiatrists in community mental health centers, state psychiatric hospitals, and correctional facilities and for those using telemedicine to treat patients in these facilities. Congratulations Drs. Fitz-Gerald and Townsend and thank you for your hard work advocating for psychiatrists!

Edward F. Foulks, MD, PhD

It is with deep sadness we announce Edward Francis Foulks, MD, PhD passed away on Saturday, September 1, 2018. He is survived by his beloved wife of 25 years, Janice Thomas Foulks, his daughter, Cami (Matt) Flannery, siblings Robert (Denine) Foulks, Janet (Ralph) Henson and Marie Libby, as well as Leonard (Cathy) Thomas, Donald (Tricia) Thomas, and Mary Gail Thomas (Harry, DDS) Kolodney, grandchildren Eva Rose and William Zelevansky, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Dr. Foulks was a Psychiatrist, Anthropologist, and Psychoanalyst and treasured his associations with his colleagues throughout the world. He was a long-term member of the LPMA and served as President from 1998-1999. Dr. Foulks was active in the APA and held the prestigious title of Distinguished Fellow. His contributions to Psychiatry and service to his patients were exemplary and he will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, his family has asked consideration of a donation to NAMI (1538 Louisiana Avenue) or the Cathedral-Basilica of St. Louis King of France (615 Pere Antoine Alley). Click
