Pollinator and Children's Garden
The Friends of Lunenburg Library have been hard at work making our library grounds attractive and ecologically friendly. Last year, Robin Venezia and Miss Debbie (our wonderful Children's librarian)
planted a children's garden in front of the Children's library wing. This is an interactive herb garden where children (and parents) can touch and smell different herbs and flowers.
This spring, a pollinator garden has been added to the front entrance. Pollinator populations are in decline, and the library is doing its part to help nurture our bees and butterflies. This garden is full of perennials that are native to our area and also highly attractive to pollinators. The stepping stones were made by the participants in the Children's book club.
Be sure to visit these gardens throughout the summer as we add more plants and information about them.

TUESDAY, AUGUST 1st
11:00 AM-12:00 PM
Join us for a morning book club for adults at the Library!
Our inspiration for this book club is a "100 Books Bucket List" scratch-off poster. We'll use the poster to choose our next title every month by drawing a number and scratching off that space to reveal our read. Titles range from epic classics, to short stories, and modern masterpieces both fiction and nonfiction. Challenge yourself with some books you may have never thought to read before, or revisit an old favorite to discuss with our group.
For August, we're reading square #85: The Secret History by Donna Tartt.
No registration is required, and participation can vary month-to-month. We will meet on the first Tuesday of each month at 11:00 am in the Library conference room.

Monthly Music Series Presents: Hungrytown
WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 23rd
6:30—7:30 PM
Join us for a live concert with the folk duo Hungrytown!
After more than 15 years of world-wide touring and three album releases, Rebecca Hall and Ken Anderson--otherwise known as the folk duo HUNGRYTOWN--have earned a reputation for the quality and authenticity of their songwriting: “It’s great to hear an act eschew sentimentality in favor of honesty and to prove that you don’t have to go raiding the memory of others to find the stuff that really good songs are made of,” writes Jedd Beaudoin of Popmatters. Lyricist Rebecca Hall is credited with compositions “that sound as timeless as any traditional songs” (Northern Sky, UK) while producer/multi-instrumentalist/husband Ken Anderson is lauded for his “remarkable affinity for instrumental embellishment” (No Depression) and for crafting Hungrytown’s “gorgeous vocal harmonies” (Folk and Roots, UK). Visit their website to learn more.
Registration is encouraged to help with room setup, but is not required.
This concert is sponsored in part by funding for The Lunenburg Public Library Monthly Music Series, supported by North End Subaru.
