The Lunenburg Library has a new staff member!
We recently welcomed a new staff member on board.
Julie Bozicas will be the new library assistant in children's services, and we are very excited to have her as part of our staff. Make sure to say hello the next time you stop by the library!

"It is with great pleasure that I am announcing that the Lunenburg Public Library will be opening on Fridays starting September 9th. We will open our doors on this new day of the week from 2-6pm.
Stay tuned for more announcements about the fun on Fridays at the library as we adjust to this new routine. September 23rd will be Family Flick Friday! Lunenburg Historical Society: Is It Really Gone Forever?

Join us for an evening reading and book signing from local author Mark S. Haman, who may be better known to those of us at the Library as popular guest storytime reader Doc Haman!
Celebrate the publication of his newest collection of stories, WALT & STUMPY: ADVENTURES OF A MAN AND HIS SQUIRREL. Become acquainted with elderly weather watcher, Walt Walthers, and his rascally roommate Stumpy the stub-tailed gray squirrel through this collection of adventure tales. Copies of his book will be available for purchase after some readings by the author.

ADULT CRAFT LAB
WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 21st

Join us to make magnets with wine corks!
Paint the wine corks any color you like, design your pattern, glue them together, and add magnetic tape on the back to make a unique magnet that doubles as a mini cork board. We supply all the materials needed to complete the craft, all you need to do is register and attend!
Open to adults 16 +
Registration opens September 1st.

Join us for an entertaining evening of beautiful guitarwork by Carlos Odria!
The Peruvian-born guitarist has been described as a "breathtakingly talented musician… with an immense technical skill" (Worcester Telegram) and as a "guitar wizard" (Gamble Rogers Fest). His original compositions and arrangements of jazz standards and Latin American tunes deliver an exciting blend of international styles such as bossanova, Afro-Peruvian festejo, rumba flamenca, and Afro-Caribbean vibes with an improvisational approach inspired by the rich tradition of American jazz.

Adult Mystery Travel Kits:
Sign up for a limited edition Mystery Travel Kit at the Library!
We'll curate a selection of print and audio/visual library materials from the adult collection with printable puzzles, coloring sheets, recipes, and surprise treats just for you. Everything in the kit will be about a mystery country that you can immerse yourself in without even leaving home. Travel the world this winter by signing up for a new kit each month.
Program is expected to run September 2022 - December 2022.
A library card is required to register. You will receive an email notification when your kit is ready for pick-up.
We hope you enjoy a chance to experience and learn about a new culture through your local library!

Stitchcraft
Tuesdays 3:00 to 5:00 PM
Join us on Tuesday afternoons to socialize while we work on knit or crochet projects. This group is open to any skill level. No registration is required. This group is drop in so come by any time.

Little Learners Storytime
Ages 0-4
Mondays 11:00
Monday mornings at 11:00 on the patio, weather
permitting. We will have storytime outside and then come inside to the Story Craft Room for a simple craft. This weekly event will feature book sharing, songs, music and movement activities and a craft.
No registration needed. Beginning Septemeber 12th.

Pre-K Storytime
Ages 4-5
Wednesdays 10:00
Wednesday mornings at 10:00 we will gather in the StoryCraft Room for book sharing, readiness activities and music and movement. This story time is designed for those kiddos who are anticipating either pre-k or kindergarten next year! No registration needed. Beginning Septemeber 14th.

BOOK IN A BAG
FOR 1ST AND 2ND GRADERS
LPL has a first time book club experience for beginning chapter book readers! The format for this club is a bit different- no monthly gatherings, just reading and writing a simple review. At the beginning of each month, 12 kids can stop by to pick up their book bag. In the book bag, which is yours to keep , you will find a library copy of this month's book which will need to be returned, a treat, coloring pages, a puzzle to solve, a book review form to fill out and return and a surprise item! Read the book, write your review and drop it off here at the library when you return your book. Registration is necessary each month for this event, so sign up early for one of the 12 bags!

Popcorn and a Book
FOR 3RD AND 4TH GRADERS
Who needs popcorn and a movie? We have a better idea! Once a month between the 1st and the 10th of the month, kids in grades 3 and 4 can register and stop by to pick up a kit that has a book by a featured author, some microwave popcorn and a few fun activity pages. Then pop your popcorn, spread a blanket on the floor, cozy up in a warm bed or build a reading fort of your own creation as you crack open the book written by a favorite author- or maybe one that you have been meaning to try but haven't yet.

BRICK BUILDERS LEGO CLUB

Calling all Lego builders Ages 7-10! Meet Miss Julie
(our new Children's Assistant) in the Story Craft Room for a chance to build together with our library Legos!
This month's theme will be Water Legos! Bridges, damns, waterfalls and more! We will venture outdoors on the patio for this session. Be prepared to get a little wet. This Lego club will meet monthly and will involve more structured builds.

Plant Slime Workshop with the New England Botanical Garden at Tower Hill

During this STEM program, Kids ages 6-8 can join us to learn about the sticky, slimy adaptations of plants and then can mix up their own slime recipe. Educators from the New England Botanic Garden at Tower Hill will here to educate and entertain the kids

Teen Anime Club
Wednesday, September 14th
4:00-5:30pm
Community Room
Anime Club is an opportunity for teens to socialize with their friends (and make some new ones!) after school while enjoying Japanese anime and manga. We will be meeting the 2nd Wednesday of each month and will watch one full length film or a couple of individual episodes from a variety of anime titles on Crunchyroll. Some shows will have English subtitles, others will be dubbed into English.
This club is open to teens ages 14-18 (grades 9-12). Teens can draw fan art and eat awesome snacks provided by the library (bring your own beverage) while watching!
Content shown will be rated PG or PG-13/TV14 (or the equivalent in the case of international ratings).
Please sign up ahead of time so that we can make sure to have enough
snacks for everyone! Teens are encouraged to participate, suggest their favorite titles, and bring friends!

Lightsaber Training for Tweens & Teens
Saturday, September 24th
11:00am-Noon
Join local swordsman, Dan Burns Swords, LLC, as
participants use safe-for-contact foam weapons to learn lightsaber combat. Participants will explore historical eastern and western swordsmanship techniques and the potential physics of the unique fictional weapon, alongside dueling with the fully costumed instructor and one another.
Space is limited, so register early! Registration opens Monday, August 29th at 10:00 AM. and is open to grades 5-8 (ages 10-14). Participants can come in Star Wars inspired attire if they would like, just make sure clothing is easy and safe to move around in.
Weather permitting, this program will be held outside, it will be moved inside if needed.
**Please note that there will be a waiver for parents/guardians to sign, this will be emailed over closer to the event. Waiver is required for participation in this event.**

Teens: Hunger Games Inspired Basic Survival Course
TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 27th
5:30—7:30 PM
Calling all tributes! In this 2-hour basic survival skills workshop lead by Animal Man Survivor (home of New England's premier traveling survival school) teens will learn:
* Learn to create life-saving shelter anywhere.
* Discover how to locate and purify water.
* Learn to build a quick fire that can be lit using only one match.
* Practice Katniss's famous twitch-up snare.
* Learn 4 edible/medicinal wild plants that are abundant throughout North America year-round.
* Try your hand at Peeta's camouflage techniques.
* Learn archery basics and get to shoot a replica or Katniss's bow from the arena! (Don't worry, arrows have padded safety tips)
Space is limited, so register early! Open to grades 6-12 (ages 11-18). Wear comfortable clothes that you don't mind getting dirty.
Weather permitting, this program will be held outside, it will be moved inside if needed.
Registration opens Monday, August 29th.

Teen Drop-In Superfight Game Event

We've got a new card game to play in the Teen Room! Have you heard of Superfight? It's a game where you draw cards and argue why your randomly chosen character and their particular set of powers (or weaknesses) can beat another person's character in a fight.
Drop by the Teen Room between 3pm - 4pm on Thurs. Sept. 29th to play!
Open to tweens & teens in grades 6-12 (ages 12-18).
No registration needed.
