MHAS Celebrates ABA Pro Bono Week
October 20-26, 2013 
 

During ABA Pro Bono Week, Mental Health Advocacy Services, along with other local legal services organizations, SoCal Pro Bono Managers and the LA Law Library, will present a variety of events, including free MCLE trainings for attorneys.  Events include:

 

October 21: How Medical/Legal Partnerships Address the Needs of Vulnerable Populations in the Changing Health Care Environment, free 1-Hour MCLE Event at the LA Law Library

 

October 22: Current Issues in Mental Health Law, free 1-Hour MCLE Event at MHAS

 

October 23: Introduction to Special Education Law, free 1-Hour MCLE Event at MHAS (in conjunction with October 25 Legal Clinic)

 

October 24: To Remake Justice in 2013: Responding to the Growing Justice Gap, free 1-Hour MCLE Event at the LA Law Library

 

October 25: Special Education Legal Clinic at Learning Works! Charter School in Pasadena

 

October 26: Public Legal Services Fair at the LA Law Library

 MHAS Receives Fair Housing Grant from the U.S. Dept. of Housing & Urban Development 
Equal Housing Logo  
On September 25, the U.S. Dept. of Housing & Urban Development announced $38 million in grants to 95 organizations to fight housing discrimination throughout the United States.  MHAS was awarded an 18-month grant for its Fair Housing Education & Outreach Project for People with Disabilities.

The Campaign for Justice seeks to increase funding for the network of organizations providing life-changing legal services to low income individuals and families throughout California.
